The Boys

Post by FrankTheTank »

Thoughts on the ending? I loved the show, but the first 3 seasons were better then the last 2, but I actually enjoyed the last episode and the ending. From what I read, they stayed kind of close to the comics (with Butcher) but not some other parts, so as usual, people are not happy.

Overall, it was a wild ride, with some of the craziest stuff on TV during it's run. I will miss it, but I feel like it did run its course.

Thoughts on the last season and last episode?

The last couple of seasons got pretty tiresome, and the constant sex/excrement references got really old. But the last episode wrapped it up solidly I thought, if drastically underusing the GenV characters.

I'd be curious to hear how it differed from the comic, and what specifically viewers didn't like about it.

Oh and whatever the actresses get done to their voices to make them sound kinda croaky, like the Starlight actress... yeah they need to stop that just as badly as they do the plastic surgery. She sounds like a 50 year old woman now.

I admittedly haven’t read the comics, but I saw people comparing their ending with the tv show. In the comics, Black Noir killed Homelander and big reveal — Noir was a clone of Homelander. That would have been cool, actually. I’m glad Homelander finally got it handed to him, but the scene was pretty absurd with the way Kimiko had all day to blast him, especially since Homelander knew that’s what she was trying to do.

Also, they didn’t answer what happened with Soldier Boy. Is he still frozen in Vought Tower?

Soldier Boy still frozen.

I think the filmed ending accomplishes the same thing as the comic ending. In the show Gus Fring is still head of Vought so theoretically nothing really changes and Butcher was still right. So I don't mind the change, frankly it made Deep a much more interesting character than he otherwise woulda been.

We’ve known for a few seasons now that the only way to beat Homelander was to use Soldier Boy’s nuclear blast. Sure, it was Kimiko, not him, but nothing surprising about it. The Noir reveal would have have been an interesting twist. But that was out the window when they replaced Noir with the community theater actor, who they wasted too much time on.

The actress, known for her role as Erin Moriarty, shared that she was dealing with serious health problems during production. She said she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland, around June 2025. The condition can cause symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, and other physical challenges.
Just FYI - she was dealing with a pretty serious illness which I am sure affected her voice, among other things.

The boys is trite garbage, more gen X edgelord schlock. Boring and overdone. Did they use standard gen x 90s music as well so it hits everyone edgy 90s in the feels?

Thanks for that update, I wish her the best although nothing I know about Graves' Disease affects someone's voice or makes them look like they've received a distracting amount of plastic surgery.

It does sound like a good excuse though for someone who wants to gaslight people into believing she hasn't gotten plastic surgery.

I skipped everything in this thread to avoid spoilers. I have seen a bit on twitter to get the gist, though.

I stopped watching this show before last season. I liked the show, but kinda lost interest, then I heard that last season was way on the nose, but that this season was better. Should I go back, watch last season, and then this season?

The first 3 seasons were, IMO, the best 3 seasons, with 4 & 5 on the downhill. I enjoyed the finale, but I know it had its' missteps.
I would bite the bullet and just finish it, but I was already pretty pot committed and wanted to finish it.

You could probably just skip S4 and watch S5. I didn't remember much of S4 and didn't feel lost at all for S5
