Re: Arenado
You’d have to put some stats to it to give that thought life.
So take his last two years in Colorado. Was he pouting then too? Take those stats, and match them to his first two years here. Did he rebound then too? Then take the last two years here, the tanking years as you note, and compare to this year.

Maybe that shoulder injury was a bigger factor than was let on.
Maybe he just likes the Arizona ballpark. Who knows.
But to suggest throwing away two years in the twilight of a career is ridiculous.

Players across all major sports have had a history of dialing it back to force an outcome. This isn’t a impossibility11WSChamps wrote: ↑19 May 2026 07:37 am Maybe that shoulder injury was a bigger factor than was let on.

No. Do you know what would have helped get him outta St. Louis? Waiving his no-trade clause. He didnt seem too anxious to do that

You’ve never heard of players dogging it to get out of situations they don’t want to be in ??OldRed wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:02 amWhere do you come up with these thoughts?Goldfan wrote: ↑19 May 2026 07:44 amPlayers across all major sports have had a history of dialing it back to force an outcome. Re: Arenado
To a point, yes.
N/A has always been a follower.
Never a leader.
Super Slo Mo expected N/A to be something he never wanted, never could be.
In Colorado, N/A made is extremely clear that he did not want responsibility, did not want expectations - he was only interested in playing baseball.
It was stupid of the Cardinals to ever believe he could be a cornerstone on the filed or in the clubhouse.
The D'Backs simply want nothing more from him than to ride in the back of the bus - nothing more than being along for the ride while others shoulder the responsibility of leadership.

He's a probable Hall of Famer, but not a slam dunk. You think he's going to marginalize 2 seasons of stats so the Cardinals would move him? C'mon.Goldfan wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:06 amYou’ve never heard of players dogging it to get out of situations they don’t want to be in ??OldRed wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:02 amWhere do you come up with these thoughts?Goldfan wrote: ↑19 May 2026 07:44 amPlayers across all major sports have had a history of dialing it back to force an outcome. Intentionally marginalize his own stats?Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:39 amHe's a probable Hall of Famer, but not a slam dunk. No.
Mope and pout, thereby diminishing his motivation and competitive interest?
Absolutely.
Did it in Colorado.
Did in in STL.
