IIHF World Championship

Post by Quas »

I was looking at the US roster and was wondering why Sunggarud wasn't invited to play in this. I see 5-6 forwards that are worse than him on the current roster. It also looks like Broberg won't be playing for Sweden, and I haven't heard anything regarding Dvorsky playing for Slovakia. I guess it's possible these guys declined the invitation. Maybe they need to heal up for the start of next season.

I believe the cutoff is a player cannot be born before 2006.

That’s the world juniors. This is the big boys.

My guess is they’re all a little dinged up or declined invites, wanting to focus on off-season training for the NHL than the WC.

You could say the same about Hofer. He, Parayko and Schenn were all on Team Canada last season. Clearly they’re good enough but it’s hard to convince guys to go do that after a very long season.
