Will JJ join the 30/30 club?

Post by Galatians221jb1 »

I'm too lazy to look up the Card's last 30/30 player but it's been a while. I'm thinking JJ might do even better than 30/30

The Cards have never had a 30/30 player.

I think a 20/20 year would be pretty darnn good for a rookie
More than that would just be gravy.

Gotta be honest, I was surprised about that. I thought for sure Lankford had one. Closest he got was 1998 when he had 31 HRs and 26 SBs.

So the kid might be 30/30, ROy, but no AS. Strange.

It is crazy Lankford never did it. As a Cardinal, he had 238 homers and stole 258 bases. He hit over 30 homers twice, and stole more than 30 bases three times, but never in the same season. He had 5 20-20 seasons. He did a lot of things well on the diamond.

Quietly a very good player. I believe he had the most hr in Busch 2

He's at 5 SBs and 8 HRs. Long way to go on both. Not even on a projected track on SBs.

Both are predictions and opinions. Not strange.

And FYI...there's some (bleep) good 2b in the NL

He is not a HR hitter and should not be swinging for the fences. He should concentrate on getting on base. Hit 280 with 12 HR and 16 steals would be a great target in the future.

Agree 100%
He will hit his share of HR’s but I hope he becomes a doubles machine hitting to all fields.
Do NOT have him do what Matt Carpenter did!
He was a doubles machine(50 one year!) and one of the top hitters in the NL.
Then came the “launch angle” [nonsense] and he went steadily downhill.

He's a rookie with a .356 OBP. He is getting on base at an above average clip.

Weird your suggestion is he should concentrate on getting on base then you give a batting average target.

After I posted it occurred to me that Walker may do the same. That would be something if they both got there. Exciting.

No, he's doing just fine and should continue doing whatever it is that he is doing. He's going to hit two of those marks relatively easy this year, assuming he stays healthy. And he's a rookie!!

Why would anyone want him to change what he is doing?
