Charlie Coyle 6x6 Gross

Post by callitwhatyouwant »

whelp, this is the reported number and term. That is one gross contract taking him to 40. And there were people here who didn't like trying to extend ROR 5x5. Shame on us. This is disgusting and one could only assume it's being done with the anticipation that the last 2 years will just get waived by the player?

I'd say "disgusting" is a stretch.

Stupid is more like it. Even more stupid if he just waived his last 12 million!

Nobody expects players to waive their right to a guaranteed contract. They just assume that the cap will rise and make it easier to tolerate, or the player will be hurt enough by the end of it to go on LTIR.

And that’s why we should stay FAR far away from this summer’s UFA market. The “talent” is lacking and the prices will be insane.

This to Infinity and Beyond.

Matter of fact, I wouldn’t sign any UFA’s period, regardless of what year and how many stars there are, until we’re at least contenders again and are missing that one potential piece that’d hypothetically put us over the top.

Continue to stock up on premium picks and continue reloading the farm, while makin smart trades that are in the 20-25 range, then prosper. You can always use your extra prospects in trades to fill holes, and despite what some think, our prospect pool has lots of room to add, even tho its starting to look way nicers than before 23’.

The Good ol’ days will be here again before we know it.

The Frank Nazar contract ($6.59 per for seven years starting in 26-27) might go down as a bargain if he keeps getting better and/or stays healthy...

2025-26
GP G A PTS
66 15 26 41

He was playing hurt or banged up for almost the entire season with heavy minutes on the PK and PP

Building from within is the best way to lock up talent at a discount...

They'll just place him on LTIR and he'll just sit at home making 6 mil a year.

Not our circus, not our monkey. Glad he’s not an option for us at all.

Columbus is one of those teams that has to overpay to keep talent so 6 million for them is likely 4.5-5.5 for others.

Thought this was a Coyle thread, No one gives a [shirt] about Nazar. Not even comparable.

They both play center, didn't make it to free agency and signed near max contracts. You don't think that either will set a precedent or starting point for similar players/contract talks?

In this day and age, $6M for a 55-60 point center is NOT outrageous.

Now he was hurt or banged up lol, like he was part of the team and knew. No one outside the team ever knows anyones injury but resident clown knows he was hurt or banged up

There is about to be a huge market correction and a lot of fan outrage about it.
