Multiple Platinum Glove winner Yadi controlled the game like no one else of his generation.

People that I've talked to around the country over the years makes me believe that he will be a first ballot HOF'er.

Yadi was a generational defensive talent. We were both spoiled and busted for do many years. Gorman us older dudes, it was like Ozzie Smith part 2. Its like we saw web gems every game. And then as a huge bonus, we saw both players transform into offensive contributors as well.

We might not be that much better. Young Yadi couldn’t hit either.

I remember him changing his stance about once a month. Sure did get it figured out. Very intelligent hitter.

While an argument can be made for Yadi being the best from 2004-2022 , in my own lifetime following baseball nobody came close (including Yadi ) to the catching prowess of Johnny Bench.
I was 19 when Bench came up for 26 games iin 1967.(He was 3 weeks older than myself )and he played for 17 years thru my 36th birthday . To this day noboy holds a candle to Bench.
In his rookie season of 1968 (age 20), Bench was Rookie of Year (ROY), All Star, Gold Glove , and 16th in MVP
He went on to win 9 more cosecutive Gold Gloves ..10 in all , 13 consecutive All Star games, twice voted No. 1 MVP, two 4ths in MVP, 5 times voted in Top 10 MVP in his career , career OPS .818, over 2,000 hits, on and on .
Defensivel , he had a cannon arm , blocked balls , you name it he did it defensively
Since his retirement , no catcher has surpassed him as a total package. He is the consensus No. 1 best catcher of all'time.
Very honored that I was able to see him play his entire career. If you born no later than about 1960 , you most likely watched his entire career also.
We saw a few excellent ones .. Bench , Molina, Rodriguez and a couple others.
