Florida Goalie Situation and Binny
Let me start with, I believe the Blues will address Binny in a respectful manner and give him the option of finishing his career here as the 1b to Hofer moving forward or being traded to a contending team. I don't know what he will choose. I am sure that if he elects to stay, an extension for 3-4 million a year for 3 to 4 years is what would be offered. Now, if he elects to be traded to the right team, Florida is very interesting. Bobrovsky seems upset with the offers he is getting from Florida and it looks like he is electing free agency. Florida has cap issues- not terrible- but they can't afford to pay bob close to what he was getting and I am sure term is also an issue with Bob. Obviously, I think Florida's first guy that they would look into is Connor Hellyebuck. However, that is a pricey contract and I don't think Winnipeg would retain salary on it unless it came with a large overpay on top of an already large haul to get him. I think Binny then becomes a likely top target for them. Now, their number 9 pick is certainly a lot higher value than a binny, however, if we agree to retain 3 mil and add in one of our first round picks, it may work out for both sides. I would suspect that a Binny decision and Hofer extension will be the first shoes to drop in what will be an exciting offseason given our wide range of possible moves given our youth, picks, and full roster.

I truly hope its an exciting off season too meaning these critical moves are successful in every meaningful way of the word
For all we want I do have concerns about how we get it done and what the cost might be.

Good thoughts. I would retain 50% and offer #15 for #9. Would even throw in a B-level prospect or one of our 3rds if needed. Would not want to trade #11, but if you do, then nothing in addition to Binner in that deal.
My guess is that he stays though.

Problem is I dont think Florida has cap space? Even with 50% retained on Binner i dont think they will have space!TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑11 May 2026 17:35 pm Good thoughts. Binner (50% retained), 15th, 30th, Dean, and another prospect from the wing.

Would love to get Lundell, but if they don't resign Bob, then they will have close to $15.0 million and only 5 roster spots to fill, two of which are goalie. If they get Binner for $3 million and another veteran backup, they could have cap space pretty easily. Most of the spots they are filling are bottom 6 forwards and bottom pair defenders. $11.5 million coming off in just goalies.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑11 May 2026 17:57 pmProblem is I dont think Florida has cap space? Re: Florida Goalie Situation and Binny
They aren't dealing Lundell, and the trade there is just too complicated. They are fine with getting a goalie if he is retained and only have to spend 3 mil on him. They likely resign Tasarov for a 2.5 mil 3 year deal, and could go with those two and have plenty of money to fill their roster. Also, no one is trading for Dean. He is valueless. Simple trade would be Binny- 3mil retained- and either the 31st and a 3rd for the 9th or the 15th for the 9th and a second. Would they do it? I dunno.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑11 May 2026 20:21 pmWould love to get Lundell, but if they don't resign Bob, then they will have close to $15.0 million and only 5 roster spots to fill, two of which are goalie. All of this is moot. The Blues don’t retain. They don’t buy out. The Blues don’t have a philosophy of paying players to not play for them.
If the blues trade him, they won’t eat, the will take back a comparable salary.
