I could see something happening around Kyrou for Nemec. I think Kyrou would waive for NJ as his brother is with Philly so he would be in close proximity to him, plus they are closer to contention than the Blues. NJ has Seamus Casey in the minors and has Pesce for 4 more years, Kovacevic for 4 more years and Hamilton for two more at $9M. Unless they find a taker for Hamilton they have 5 RD. Nemec supposedly wants a contract similar to Luke Hughes $9Mx5. I would include some low cost prospects at LD and W, if they needed to include someone like Mercer to make the cap work. Maybe they would also see value in swapping Markstrom with Binnington. Markstrom has an extra year left, but could still fit in with Hofer in a tandem.

I think Nemec could play top 4 minutes for the Blues and free them up to deal Parayko for a 2nd line center or to go after the 2nd overall pick. Nemec looked pretty good as a top pairing D for Slovakia at the Olympics. Running Nemec/Mailloux/Jiricek on the right side in the future would be pretty solid.

We certainly would be set on the defensive side with those three on the right and Broberg/Lindstein/Fischer on the left. Young and high ceiling with that group.

Also, they say it takes 3-4 years for almost all defenseman to aclimate to the league. Nemec just now at 22 coming into his own.

I think a lot of you are overvaluing Simon Nemec. His perception around the league and views on his potential aren’t remotely what it was 2-3 years ago.

I don’t think he’s likely to reach the 1D potential he once had. I think it’s more likely he ends up a solid #2-4 that’s always going to be a little shaky defensively. Worst case scenario, he’s out of the league in a few years if he keeps struggling.

In 2024-25 the Blues had the 13th best offense in scoring, in 2025-26 they dropped to 24th. Unless you're somebody, you have zero access to the room, training staff, coaching staff, scouts, medical staff, and the head coach and GM that sits and talks with this guy. Kyrou has hit 30+ goals and 70+ points the past 5 years. That's what you have to replace if you want to be a playoff team. If you trade JK for draft capital and sign a guy to get 18 goals, you're watching the lottery again.

You might want to stock up on tissues. The Blues are trading Kyrou this offseason. They will get a decent return but probably not great. Steen knows what a winning hockey player looks and acts like, and Kyrou is not it. He doesn’t like the player

I think there was a faction in the forum that wanted Nemec a few years ago and think he is still that prospect. I didn’t see it. And if he is available that should tell you what Jersey thinks of him. At this point I’m more willing to gamble on the futures of Mailloux and and Jiricek vs Nemec’s and the cost it would take to acquire him. If they are moving Kyrou it has to be for an are of more need, IMO, and that would be a 2C or a big, physical top 9 winger.
