Nearly a quarter of the schedule has been played and as of now the AL is still wide open. The LA Angels have the worst record in baseball and are only 4 games out of the wildcard as of right now. All the contenders that have struggled so mightily out of the gate are closer than that (looking at you Red Sox, Orioles, Blue Jays, and Astros).
Why does that matter to us? Whether the Cardinals call themselves buyers, or sellers it means that if the pack remains that tight in the AL none of those teams will be putting players out on the market, and most if not all may be looking to add.

The trade deadline will certainly be interesting if we continue to win at a decent clip. I'm 99.99% positive they won't be buyers. But will they stay on course and sell JoJo, May, O'Brien? Stand pat and add a bullpen piece?

Too soon to say. The team building aspect of an organization is as interesting to me as the games.

IMO they will move some pieces but not a lot if they keep this up.

Everyone assumes they will trade Noot. I'm not so sure about that if he plays well.

I don't care which way they go, okay, that's a lie, I think they could add a TOR rental & BP piece or two & be in it, but failing that, either fish or cut bait, no half-(donkey) maneuvers. Either stay with the youth movement or nut up and go for it but don't stand in the street.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑10 May 2026 16:13 pmIMO they will move some pieces but not a lot if they keep this up.

They can move pieces both acquire and trade away. No reason why you have to do one or the other. At the present time lf is a black hole. If they play well and he plays well I see them waiting until the offseason. I dont see a scenario where they bring up Baez. I guess they could bring up Torres but there's a reason they haven't done that yet.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑10 May 2026 16:26 pmIt's hard for me to see a way that he stays. We'll see.
