Not at all. If there is information out there that describes in detail how the combinations are distributed that show im wrong then i will admit im wrong. Its just my opinion that the team tgat landed in that spot isnt a factor that plays into the combinations that spot randomly got. We dont know if the teams were thrown in randomly, alphabetically, draft position or whatever. But the facts that we do know support the 9 slot landing the combination that in fact resulted in the 2nd pick while that pick was in play. Thats like saying that the numbers we got from the detroit pick were one set of combinations but if detroit keeps their pick then it would have been a different set.TAFKAP wrote: ↑09 May 2026 16:03 pmYou are being argumentative though, the #9 slot wasn't chosen, the San Jose Sharks were randomly given 50 sets of random numbers, the St. Louis Blues held 30. Here you go, as requested. The Draft guide shows which number sequences went to which team, and that it was done at random.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑09 May 2026 18:51 pmNot at all. After the fact, everyone can take it however they want to take it. But both teams were trying to do what they were supposed to do ....win the game.

Re: Well Isnt That Speshal..
Im not trying to “fight” about this. I just dont buy into the fact that swapping the name of the team that occupied a slot some how effects the result of the combinations. There has to be a variable that directly effects the outcome. That is like saying our combinations for the 15 slot would be different if detroit still owned the pick. And if they are not different then the important variable in my mind the the draft slot.
Again you dont have to agree with me, i dont have to agree with you. Its my opinion. I did not create this thread. Simply just responding. I dont have any ill feelings to anyone on here for having a opinion.

I'm not fighting, I'm just pointing out how random it was. San Jose had 20 more sets than we did, the only way to prove that SJ could have lost that set, would be to know when they got it, if it was before 30, it's a moot point because switch us with them and the 11 slot wins because they still have that set. It could have been worse, I ran across this looking through the sets.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑10 May 2026 06:35 amAll right now I feel guilty for starting this thread, lol you’re both good posters so no more fightingTAFKAP wrote: ↑09 May 2026 20:52 pmHere you go, as requested. Im down for a group hug.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑10 May 2026 09:43 amLet the record show that I completely agree with ya and I know you’re not trying to argue, and while me and TAFKAP dont agree on alot of Blues topics and opinions, Ive seen him man up and apologize when he felt he was in the wrong, so I respect ya both as awesome posters entitled to your opinions.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑10 May 2026 08:19 am Im not trying to “fight” about this.
Now I hope ive made an amends by starting this sarcastic thread with no ill intent.![]()

For the record i know totally get where you are coming from.i believe what you are saying that if we would have finished i. The 9 slot that we would have kept our initial combos and then added more additional. We dont know if the teams were organized alphabetically bu city, but team name, randomly or by the draft position before the random combos are sent to each team. But if they were grouped by draft postion first then i believe we would have had all of san jose’s and they would have had all of ours.TAFKAP wrote: ↑10 May 2026 09:46 amI'm not fighting, I'm just pointing out how random it was. There is no way to tell when that particular set of number was given to them. IT WAS RANDOM. You are trying to say, that had the Blues packed it in, that winning combination would have been in the Blues hands. That's ABSOLUTELY false. They are randomly distributed, that means not assigned due to the order of points. There is absolutely NO WAY to tell that's what would have happened. You're saying this to dig at people who you disagree with, that's ok. Just be honest about it.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑09 May 2026 13:56 pmThe “simply doesnt matter” comment could be applied to every last hockey related post on this forum. Im not trying to be argumentative or sound salty. But we 100% know that slot 9 got the 2nd pick and that spot could have been ours if our approach was different. Its over and does not matter. But for sake of the forum and topic in the offseason i comment when i think its relative.tfriede2 wrote: ↑09 May 2026 13:18 pmIt jumped from 9 to 2 when SJ was occupying the 9 slot. This isn’t hard. You can’t just substitute the Blues at the 9 slot and assume everything would have happened the exact same. It’s an alternate timeline; the lottery would have had to have the exact same results. I was rooting hard for the Blues to lose down the stretch, but I wasn’t the least bit concerned about “what ifs” of another team won the lottery because it simply doesn’t matter.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑09 May 2026 12:06 pmWhy are you acting like this is the multiverse? We know 100% that 9 jumped up to 2. We dont have to overcomplicate ittfriede2 wrote: ↑09 May 2026 10:58 am Yeah, that’s not how this works. Even assuming the Blues would have had the same number combos assigned to SJ, if the Blues had finished the season in the #9 slot, then there’s an alternate timeline; the lottery needs to be conducted, the button to draw each ball needs to be pushed again, etc - the chances of the #9 team winning the lottery again is the same as it was before - like 4%. You don’t just get to assume that the lottery results would have been the same. The only way this logic makes sense is if the lottery was conducted prior to the end of the season and the results were already determine that the #9 team would jump to #2…in that case, then yes, the Blues lost out. But that’s not how it works.

Everything I read said the numbers were randomly grouped, then assigned to teams in random order. They wanted no weight added to the order of finish.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑10 May 2026 13:15 pmFor the record i know totally get where you are coming from.i believe what you are saying that if we would have finished i. Craziest part is this, the Blues, Preds, and Sharks all finished with 86 points. The Sharks and Preds got better draft position over us because they each had more WINS. SJS-39, NSH-38, STL-37. That's nuts!
