Like Earl Weaver, had enduring luck or skill in developing starting pitchers who endured more than most.

In no way am I trying to besmirch Bobby Cox, but when I think of Bobby, I think of the 90’s and early 2000 Braves dynamo and of course their Big 3 of Maddux, Glavine, & Smoltz. I was generally shocked to see the Post Season Record was ~.500 win% (64-65 w/the Braves, 3-4 Toronto)

For the fun of it, I looked at some of his contemporaries…

You know, after viewing these I realized how old I am, because when I think of Dusty, I immediately thought of San Fran and not Houston and had totally forgotten he was even the Gnats Manager.

Also, the Cleveland Indians don’t get enough credit for putting together some fairly stable and dominant stretches of baseball over the last 35 years. The Hargrove era in the 90’s with Thome, Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, Albert Bell, Roberto & Sandy Alomar, Omar Visquel, Jose Mesa, then later the Liriano & Jose Ramirez teams in the 20-teens.

Unfortunately for them, they just can’t seem to get by the Yankees (Boss Steinbrenner & modern Steinbrenner era) in the playoffs where the Cardinals were essentially facing a carousel of foes in the Braves, Astros, Giants, Dodgers, and Mets across that time.
