Let's fix that omission.
6 innings, 3 hits, zero runs against the Dodgers.
2.52 ERA in 2026.
Now, for his career, he is 13-6 in 26 starts, with a 3.59 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.
He is the ace of the staff.
On this staff, yes. On a contender's staff he's a low maintenance plug and play #3. Maybe he'd play the role of a Kyle Lohse or Jeff Suppan.
Correct.
We agree.
He is the ace of the staff - that is, the current staff.

There's no doubt his fastball is not the best, but he only uses it 25% of the time, and uses the other 5 pitches very well - as the charts below convey. And of course, great control.

Batting avg against chart = Fastball is the worst, but the sinker, change-up, and curve are very good.

PS - Melville surprised us all with an informative post, free of his incessant narcissistic crud. See -- it can be done!

Yes - what I said.
Another 6 innings.
1 hit.
No runs.
And 9 K's.

I'm not sure he is the ace, because this team has no ace. But he does seem to know how to pitch. And there is much more to pitching than throwing a 98 MPH fastball.
I like him. He is club Ace. By attrition.

But dudes, four double plays in first five innings is not only critical to success, but speaks of many base runners. And two of the DP’s were Strong. Without those DP’s McG doesn’t see the fourth.
Many base runners? He’s 3rd in the league in Whip. .86.
Come on.

Similar to watching Maddux. He’s a PITCHER. Was writing he should’ve been in Cards rotation 2 yrs ago….
But eventually they figure it out

Reminds me of Dakota Hudson.
He has a 0.86 WHIP….what the hell are you talking about? Oh yeah, that’s third best in all of the majors. What are you even talking about?

I didn't get to watch the game. Was McGreevy using his change or some other pitch to get all those swinging Ks?

Super Slo Mo and The Marmot preferred Mikolas - and both chose to block McGreevy.
Toxic culture.
Thank goodness those days are over.

It shouldn’t be so difficult for PRO Baseball Experts to see true talent and fast track it to the MLB team. This process where everyone is the same in their minor league incubation time is losing management. Hopefully Bloom Farm Experts are better,

Beat me to it.That was a ridiculous criticism, considering McGreevy's WHIP.

Who was it again that made McGreevy a #1 pick? Here's a hint: it was the same group that moved him to the bigs when he was 23.

That's based on a babpip that is obscenely low right now. That's probably not going to continue.
