You are the Blues GM on draft day 2026

Post by hockey jedi »

The Blues are on the clock, the high end defenseman have been taken, and Ethan Belchetz, Viggo Bjorck and Tynan Lawrence are available. Who do we choose?

I call the Kraken and say, How serious are you guys about an actual startup? Here are 2 1sts and a prospect, can I have Matty Beniers.

If they say no

I call up Toronto and say, How serious are you guys about winning this year? Here are 3 1sts. Can I have Auston Matthews?

If they say no

I call up Dallas and say, who is offering you the most to take Robertson off your hands? Name your price

I call New Jersey and offer Colorado's pick and the 15th pick for the 12th pick and pick Bjorck and Lawrence.

1. I don't look for YOUNG ELITE CENTERS on another roster. The only players that are available are those with issues. Teams don't let great young Centers go. It's the same reason why many are fine with Kyrou exiting. Bringing one in will be just an expensive detour to nowhere.

2. I take Maholtra or the best RHD available, whichever is rated higher. I do this for all 3 picks in Round 1.

3. I explain to the fans that Army has left us in a hole, and drafting low won't solve our issues. So, buckle up.

Here’s the order for me:

Bjorck
Lawrence
Belchetz

I think bjorck has the highest potential. Lawrence could be a good 2nd line center. I like Belchetz also but we are deep on the wing.

I call up Smelly and ask him if he wants a job?

Obviously.

If I had to draft, I'd go Lawrence, Bjorck, then Cullen. Only because I don't think this team would develop Bjorck as a center. They shifted Andy MacDonald to the wing and David Backes to center...

Bjorck is far and away the best player of those mentioned. Only McKenna is more skilled in this draft.

This is the correct answer in my opinion. I don’t know a lot about those guys but know the Blues need centers. And if it’s 2 other guys - would just rather ensure get the 2 guys they want if there

Bjorck. No question. All 3 + Kyrou.

Agreed. I’m not sure many realize just how talented he is. Other than being a few inches shorter than ideal, I see literally zero holes in his game. If you’re looking for a potential home run, he’s your guy.

I can only assume he would’ve absolutely torn up the U18s but he instead joined the national men’s team, has continued to do well and will most likely make their World Championships team. I’d be quite surprised if he lasts to pick 11 but I’d love to have him. But we’d very likely have to trade up to get him. And it’d be worth it.

I like Viggo Björck as well.
Question- Which one would you pick, Viggo Björck or Daxon Rudolph if they are both there?

I take Rudolph if both there. I think 5 years from now, he “might” end up being the best Dman in this draft.

Rudolph hands down but I have Rudolph as the 4th best player in the draft.
