Great win but Gorman seems hopeless

Post by Galatians221jb1 »

Either he’s uncoachable or inept. He swings and misses more than a windmill. Someone needs to get his attention. He doesn’t belong in the middle of the order. I’m tired of him jerking his head around with every swing and fixated for no reason on pulling the ball. Maybe he’s just stupid.

He sucks for sure he has rbis but not because he is good with runners in scoring position but because of the sheer volume of runners on base for him. Cards need to find a better hitter for 5th. I would rather Winn hit 5th he’s awful he should hit no higher than 7th until they can find a good third baseman

in the 9th he was sitting off speed after getting cooked for 3 Ks did a good job not chasing and working the walk. Still with better pitch selection (fastball on the top outside corner on the 3 and 2 pitch) he gets rung up for #4.

Gorman walked in the 9th. I sure wish that Winn would have bunted Walker and Gorman over to give Church a chance to produce with less than 2 outs.

It's pretty telling when as a viewer, you're hoping your team's power-hitting 3B can draw a walk late in the game and would rather he stood there with the bat on his shoulder than swing. Imagine what the offense would look like with Donovan playing 3B instead of Gorman.

The team needs to understand their self imposed situation first off. No matter what they are not going to be buyers at the deadline of a temporary fill in. With that said they need to be identifying one or two of the hitters in AAA and turning them quickly into 3rd basemen. Crooks or Jordan seem most likely with the advanced bats. While they are working on not striking out they can be learning 3rd base. They obviously love the idea of Herrera as a catcher and crooks has too much bat to just trade away. Gorman is not the answer past 2027 and they need to use these guys and not let them waste away in AAA.

I liked BD but the trade was a really good one. Glad it happened.

That's not real Christian of you there " Galatians" calling a guy inept and stupid because he had a bad baseball game. Just a little pointer. You make yourself look completely un-knowledgeable about the sport when you are triggered by a bad game and start nasty threads and act like a child about the man's poor performance.

Prieto has played more games at 3B than anywhere in his minor league career, so let's at least give him a look.

Why have a minor league system if you don't give people a shot? Crooks, Torres, Prieto vs. Pages/Pozo, VSII and Gorman.
The lineup is too prearranged. It's time for a cool change.

Replacements are being curated in the minors and if he doesn't get his act together, he may be in his last season as a Redbird.

Well last year there was a lot of complaining abiut his 3rd base defense. Per Derrick's article, Gorman has taken the extra effort to improve on defense. It seems to be working. Maybe he will do the same on offense. It's not all bad he's on pace for around 80 RBIs. I know a lot of that is having runners on in front of him but he's still getting a fair number of them home

Galatians is correct on they're observation, not only on a game but 4 full seasons and 37 games this season.

Over his career SO Rate NEVER less than 33% when the avg for MLB hitters is 22%

MLB OBP avg is .320 - Gorman only one year of avg .329
MLB SLG avg is .400 - Gorman twice .420 & .478
MLB OPS avg is .750 - Gorman once at .806

Talking just avg and he his not performing at just avg.

One year out 4 yrs and 37 games in hitting MLB avg is not what a middle of order bat is supposed to produce. Galatians is not the Lone Ranger on his perspective and observation of Gorman's performance this year and the previous +4 yrs.

It’s more than just a bad game. Gorman hasn’t had an OPS above .700 since 2023. He has a .285 OBP% and .384 SLG% over his last 942 PA. No OBP above .300 in any of the last 3 years, and no SLG% above .400 in any of the last 3 years.
