Anyone watching the Reds the mental errors vs. Cubs ?

Post by ramfandan »

Won't go into the previous games of this Cub series but a few min. ago with Cub runner on 3rd bases loaded, the batter hits a bouncer toward the 3rd base bag .. runner breaks for home as the Reds 3rd baseman steps on 3rd for the force out and then throw to the catcher Stephenson at home (who is standing on home plate.
The 3rd base runner is still 10 to 15 ft from home plate and comes in sliding but Stephenson just stands with foot on plate ( after the force at 3rd , there is a TAG play at home plate no longer a force ) HUGE mental error by Reds ! Reds announcers are none to pleased ..to say the least .
I can only imagine Reds fans back at Cincy bars watching that throwing their hands on top of their head shouting expletives ! Instead of adding an out cutting that runner down adding an out, the Cubs get a freebie run and add on more.
Every team makes some errors now and then but the 'mental ' errors are especially troubling.

Yeah, that's block-head ball by Stephenson.

The Reds must be puckered after losing three straight walk-off games to the Cubs.

7 consecutive walks in one inning vs Rats and now this knucklehead play. Time for a come to Jesus meeting or at least a closed door team meeting.

Catcher cantvtake for granted Hayes touched the bag for the force.

People are in bars at 10 am watching anything they can as an excuse (former bartender). Not good but reality.

Back in my Wisconsin days the sure did… some who had factory type jobs 7 am-3pm would head to bars after work for Happy Hour specials.
Applebees in our town back when had unique approach. No discount on the beers, mixed drinks but offered all their menu appetizers art half price with purchase of drinks.
People packed the place .

Thirdbaseman and others should be yelling "tag!" as the throw goes home, just as a firstbasemen might as he throws a ball to second after stepping on the bag. Fundamentals.
