I am going to go out on a limb and say San Jose takes Chase Reid at 2. They badly need to reinforce the defense and are loaded at forward. At 3, that may leave Stenberg. I think, this may be the opportunity to trade up to get him. Vancuver is desperate for quantity of good young pieces. If we trade all 3 firsts for their 3rd pick and say a 2027 2nd round pick, it may work. Lets say that scenario does unfold. As much as I would like to go after a Jason Robertson or Dorofeyev because those respective teams are up against cap issues- especially Vegas- they are not dumb. I think Dallas finds a way to sign or trade Robertson and he doesn't reach RFA. Vegas will figure something out to squeeze Anderson and Dorofeyev in. I don't think any of the other RFA players will be there for a steal. I also think the UFA market will be very thin. Moves I would like to see:
Jordan Kyrou and Tyler Tucker traded to New Jersey for Simon Nemec.
We may have to include a young d prospect like Ralph as well, which given the youth and depth we have on the d, we can easily do. Jersey badly wants a forward who can put the puck in the net to play with Hughes and Bratt and Nemec seems like he wants out and the team is at an impasse with him.
Trade Jordan Binnington to Edmonton for Jarry a 2028 1st and a 2027 2nd.
I think the Blues offer Binny the chance to be traded to start for a contender, and I think he takes it, rather than be a backup to Hofer moving forward. Jarry is not that great but they will have to move him to make it work and he is a solid backup for the next couple of seasons- really only playing in back to back games.
Trade picks 11, 15, and 31 to Vancuver for pick 3 and a 2027 2nd.
Vancuver needs all the firsts it can get. We don't need the quantity at this point.

Re: Blues offseason
Jarry is of no use to us, even if Edmonton could cover his entire salary for the next 2 seasons. He's barely an NHLer and very likely an AHLer.
I'm not dumping Binny for a position we would immediately have to sign someone else for.

Re: Blues offseason
We're not getting a ton of value for Binnington in a trade. He means a lot to us for obvious reasons and was a good story at the Olympics, but he was one of the worst goalies in the NHL last year. He was ranked in the mid-50s in GAA and Sv%, while Hofer was Top 15 and Top 10 in front of the same lineup.

That is not near enough to get Nemec IMO. I don't think Jersey would do it even if we offered pick #15 with Kyrou and Tucker

Trade Jordan Binnington to Edmonton for Jarry a 2028 1st and a 2027 2nd.
Not a fan of Jarry, but I would let BVinner go for as little as a 2nd rounder in this years draft or a 1st in next years draft (not with Edmonton though)

Re: Blues offseason
I am going to disagree on keeping the picks vs stenberg. We have an abundance of talent. It is the one piece we need imo. Not multiple future pieces that are redundant to what we already have. Fischer, Jiricek,Kaskamaki, Carbs and others already knocking on the door with a very young and full nhl roster. Vancuver needs the numbers, we do not. Also, I don't know that that is that far off on Nemec. They are actively looking for a goal scoring winger and are likely to part with him. They would prefer a younger player, but Kyrou is not old and despite feelings from some in here, still holds significant value and interest around the league. I think Knies would be their ideal target in a nemec deal, but will the Leafs want to trade him in conference? I doubt you get Drouin interest at all. The Blues never buy players out though. I suspect they will waive him and hope they get him to nix his deal to become a free agent as they have done a couple of times already. Not a fan of Jarry either but he is an ok backup who would only spell hofer on back to back nights. You get a first and a second because you take him back in the deal.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 13:26 pmclemonsonroots wrote: ↑06 May 2026 12:55 pm I am going to go out on a limb and say San Jose takes Chase Reid at 2. His age, and upside? Nemec is Broberg 12 months ago.....I don't think the Blues would take a Kyrou and Tucker package from Jersey for Broberg (even before this past season)
And Drouin at 2.2 Million is not a bad deal. Its not a bargain, but its by no means an albatross for 1 year. If you can get a 5th or 6th...its actually cheaper than buying the guy out.
I know its fun to play playstaion hockey offseason..but there is a reason on this board why many want to trade Kyrou. He is coming off a brutal year and has 6 more at 8 million. He can't be used as a centerpiece to get a guy like Nemec. He doesn't have that kind of value to the rest of the league.
I do like your Knies comp for Nemec though. It would make a lot of sense for both parties involved.
As far as our logjam of young minor league talent...I still would never trade MULTIPLE premium draft picks to move up to get Stenberg. He is a wing and we have plenty of those. Unless he is a wing that plays a completely different style than anyone else on the team...I have no interest in moving that much capital.
Thanks for your thoughts though. Good conversation.

Re: Blues offseason
I think you are undervaluing Kyrou based on last season. My guess is that Jersey does find an ideal trade partner like Toronto and Knies though for Nemec. In that scenario, I do think there will be teams that will offer a first and a good prospect for a Kyrou. We also might keep Kyrou as guys with multiple 30 plus goal seasons and in their mid 20s are few and far between. Kyrou also has to accept where he is going, and few teams he would likely accept a deal to- east coast and a contender more likely to garner his interest. As far as the 1sts we have, I don't really feel great about more than 12 guys. Could get lucky and one falls to 15. I wish a top tier talent was available at center in this draft, but its d and winger heavy. I would take a sure fire first line talent like Stenberg over the Lins, Hulberts, Commanders, etc that we will have available at our picks- at least the 15 and 29-31 ones.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 15:04 pmIf you were New Jersey...and you were to be open to league wide offers for Nemec...you don't think they could do better than that?clemonsonroots wrote: ↑06 May 2026 14:09 pmI am going to disagree on keeping the picks vs stenberg. Re: Blues offseason
I didn’t read everything above, but Binnington has Edmonton on his no trade list. Jamie Rivers has mentioned this multiple times times on the radio including again today.
