Dylan Carlson released

Post by okcardfan »

The Iowa Cubs release Dylan Carlson on May 4th. He had been hitting under .200 with the Iowa AAA team.

Does Mel's mom have room for him and Dylan?

I believe it's going to be a big spoon, little spoon situation.

Sad but at least he made a few mil to get him started on his next career. He's only 27, the world can be his oyster.

He can always tell that story about what pitch Pujols told him to hit for a home run

And to think we’d have Juan Soto at DH now if it wasn’t for him.

One of my favorite myths. Do you have a legit link to a legit site that confirms the Pads would have made that trade with Carlson in it?

Or that the Nats would have accepted any Cards offer over James Wood, CJ Abrams, Robert Hassell III and MacKenzie Gore?

And then there's that 15-year, $765 million deal he got from the Mets.

No, he would never have been here.

Could’ve flipped him to speed up the rebuild.

Yes, but the thread did generate some solid mindless ax grinding.

I saw Carlson play a game at Springfield years ago, when he was a highly touted prospect. He played RF and threw a runner out at 3B on one bounce. I believe he went 2for 5 at the plate with a line drive double, and his outs were also loud liners to the OF. I was convinced that he was can’t-miss. Wonder why he can’t hit anymore.

3rd in ROY voting in 2021 with an OPS+ of 115.

Weird. He lost the magic.
