It kind of seems that way. And it would be a nice stepping stone for the near future in the Central Division.

If you're asking which team is on the rise (Cardinals) vs which team is in decline (Brewers), then yes.

How ever, the Cubs are the team to beat. Future Run Value- FRV for PCA and Hoerner is + 14; more than tHan JJ Herrera Gorman Winn and Church- Combined.
Consider their defense and pitching, and they are the team to beat.

FRV is Statcast Fielding Run Value, it is purely a measure/estimate of fielding performance, not total player value (or future value).sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:09 am How ever, the Cubs are the team to beat. Fielding Run Value is Statcast’s metric for capturing a player’s measurable defensive performance by converting all of Statcast’s individual defensive metrics from different scales onto the same run-based scale, which can then be read as a player being worth X runs above or Y runs below average.

I read it earlier today. Couldn’t remember exactly the acronym. Thanx. You are right. Not an estimate of future value.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:19 amFRV is Statcast Fielding Run Value, it is purely a measure/estimate of fielding performance, not total player value (or future value).sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:09 am How ever, the Cubs are the team to beat. The point I was making was, what ever it measures, two of their players had a combined higher value than five of our top players. That’s all.

careful now, Rock. You're going to make him use his "Go To" earlier than his average 6 posts. __r_es_nrockondlouie wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:02 am If you're asking which team is on the rise (Cardinals) vs which team is in decline (Brewers), then yes.

_l_c B_rl_s_n (you have to buy a vowel) is better than the brewers, cubs, reds, and pirates combined.craviduce wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:29 amcareful now, Rock. I know my hate for PCA is well documented...but he's not the fielder that he's made out to be. I read something a couple weeks ago that said that where PCA lucks out on all these fielding metrics is that when he misses, he misses BAD. Look to that series in LA when he gets absolutely fooled on a ball in center. He could've had that ball, but he never touched it...so it's not an error.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 09:09 am How ever, the Cubs are the team to beat. Or last year's series at Busch. The Burleson/Winn play. Burleson tags one to center, Petey boy flops over to it, makes the catch, and flirts away into the wall. Winn, on second base, sees that Eat Crow Armstrong has his head firmly up his own backside, and takes two bases to score what turns out to be the winning run. Again, he made the catch, but also allows the run to score because his head was nowhere near the game. He plays the game like it ends at the tip of his nose.
I'd like to think that's the penance for getting him for Javy Baez. They got another Baez, but one who doesn't quite have the physical talent to cover his lack of focus the way Baez did for a few seasons.

The Brewers have Chourio and Misorowski to anchor their roster for quite some time, so they'll be fine. The Pirates have an equally strong duo of Griffin and Skenes. You could ask do the Cardinals have a hitter + pitcher combo that is better. Walker + somebody. We probably don't have one.

Brewers were phenomenal early and they will be getting healthy soon. Chourio and Vaughn just came back and Yelich isnt too far behind. The question is Woodruff. but it doesnt seem serious.
Ill still take the Brewers to finish ahead of the Cardinals.
Right now, I have the final division:
Cubs
Brewers
Cardinals
Pirates
Reds

While they do manage to get the most out of players, the bottom half of their lineup is cringe-worthy. Just my opinion, I like our team better.
