Jiricek and Carbs called up for Game 4

Post by callitwhatyouwant »

Looks like the Blues have continued to move up the youth trend. Two of the rising stars in juniors just got the call up. This is turning into must watch TV.

They’ve both been assigned to the T-birds. TBD if one or both will actually play in Game 4 or any playoff games beyond.

From what can gather, it’s a service called flohockey
https://www.flohockey.tv/signup?utm_med ... 1fae86bc19

It’s 9.99 a month in the annual plan, but they stick it to you at 39.99 per month if you don’t need the whole year

Check the flohockey YouTube page. They broadcast free games sometimes.

I am very happy to have these guys in the fold. However, I would be furious if I had to sit out a playoff game if I was a player that had been playing all year and worked selflessly to get the team into the playoffs.

Anyone who would be benched for them probably isn't NHL material and are fortunate to be making their $750,000 a year.

Not many players in the AHL are making $750k per year. Most have an NHL salary (which is the $750k you see listed) and an AHL salary which is much less.

Armstrong also said in the radio yesterday that it’s up to Ott if the 2 get into the line up. They might not.

It's a talent readiness-based team game. It's not based upon time in grade and time in service. If you're good, you're good...if you're not, you're not. I would be doing my best and/or hoping my best for my team to win. I would be elated if my team won and grateful for whatever I contributed during the game or leading up to it. And I would be disappointed if my team lost regardless of whom was in the lineup.
If a player gets furious about it, then that's a good indicator that it was likely a good decision that he is not in the game.
I have faith that the coaches will make the best decision for what they feel is needed to win the game. And as another poster indicated, it's also possible that they want these guys to get the higher-level pro exposure of practices, prep, etc. in a pressure environment, something that would be valuable even if they do not get in a game. (I do not know enough about the team to speculate if it is actually likely that they will not get in the game?)

McGing, Gauthier, Bordeleau, Peterson were all out for Spr in the last game, perhaps Carbs gets slotted in tonight

Lindstein also didn’t finish Game 3 so he’s probably injured too (hopefully not badly). He’s a lefty and Jiricek is a righty but if Lindstein is out then maybe things are shifted around and Jiricek slots in. Jiricek just joined them yesterday though and thus has 1 total AHL practice under his belt so I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he’s not in the lineup. With Fischer and Jiricek joining the T-birds, they are now up to TWELVE d-men on the roster. A couple are banged up and yeah, guys like Newpower have zero NHL future but that doesn’t necessarily make Jiricek the better option specifically for tonight’s game.

Springfield showed pics of Jiricek practicing yesterday but nothing about Carbonneau so my guess is he hasn’t even physically made it to Springfield yet. Or maybe he got there last night/this morning but I would assume if he would’ve made it there in time for yesterday’s practice, they would’ve done the same Welcome to Springfield posts they did for Jiricek. Assuming he just joins the team today, I doubt Ott would throw him into the lineup with just one morning skate under his belt but maybe. I personally would likely just stick with the AHL 4th line scrubs that did ok in Game 3 and then consider Carbs for Game 5 (if they lose tonight) or Game 1 of the next round (if they win) once he’s had a practice or two under his belt but that’s just me.
