Otter’s T Birds, who snuck into the playoffs, have the best team in the entire AHL on the ropes.

They sure made it scary at the end. I saw Romanov mouth "oh no" and I thought it was coming back.
He surely has.
He has hear and great smarts and very good skills

He had the primary assist on the OT winner that clinched the first series. And a second goal earlier as well.
That's your guy Harry!!
Pulling for the kid. Maybe he's a surprise in the next year or two.

Romanov has played well for Tbirds.
They’re also missing some of their top forwards due to injuries also.

Thanks, good Somni.
I have always liked the way he plays the game. Nothing spectacular, but when you need him… there he is.

If they weren’t missing four from their top nine… Dean might still be on the bottom six.

And Romanov is a stud hoss so far.

Deans been the 2nd line centre for weeks. His play has been improving since he came back.
I hope he keeps building confidence and has a monster offseason. This guy making it as a 3C would sure fill a depth role for the team

It would be silly to write off Dean yet hes coming to camp sounds like he has his shiite together he can compete for a spot. Has a lot of chemistry with Kaskamaki and Stenberg too

Zach Dean scored the winning goal at 3:45 in overtime to give Springfield a 2-1 series lead

I don't know why people would write off Dean outside of they are just "bored". It's the same people that get tired of Jordan Walker. Yes he had some off the ice issue that is not disclosed. We can assume it was substance problems due to how it was announced. But Dean was the 1 guy 2 years ago they were ready to say was going to make the team a year ago. Basically all of the hockey guys said he was the guy that is going to be hard to deny because he no doubt fits as a 4th liner with potential to be your middle 6 center. that was pre dvorsky.

If he is returning to that form, it seems logical you are going to want to bring up a guy that has that kind of nose for the gritty parts of hockey as it's what the team needs from that position unless they truly do go trade for a real top 6 center.

Jiricek was assigned to the T-birds yesterday. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear Carbonneau get assigned to them today.

Will they actually play in games though? Hard to say. The T-birds already have around 10 d-men on the roster so it may be hard for Jiricek to crack the lineup but maybe. He’d likely need the T-birds to go on a nice playoff run to give him enough practices to get up to speed on their system…and of course he’d have to show he’d likely be a better option than any of the 6 they’re currently playing and who are currently doing well. Or maybe one or more of those 6 gets injured and that opens up an opportunity for him.

Pretty much the same story with Carbs (assuming they send him there which I bet they will) but he’d likely have more of an opportunity to get into the lineup as the T-birds forward core is much more decimated by injuries than their defense currently. They had 2 AHL/ECHL scrubs slot in on their 4th line last night.

Great and gutsy win by the T-birds last night and now have a 2-1 series lead. Reminder it’s a best of 5 series so they just need to win 1 of the next 2 game to knock out top seeded Providence. Game 4 is tomorrow night in Springfield while Game 5 would be back in Providence.

The winner of this series will play the winner of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton vs Hershey for the Atlantic Division title. 2nd seeded WBS is currently up 2 games to 1 in that series.

I'm not writing the kid off, and I'm not bored.
Missing a year is tough on development and it sounds like Dean worked hard to get back into the mix. It's becoming crowded within the forwards, but Dean seems pick up where he left off.

The highlights reel of the game
https://youtu.be/GUH2cRLGNjY

I like their PBP guy. He is totally into the play and doesn’t seem to need a color man. With some seasoning (he sounds like he is under 30) he will sprinkle some more Old School texture into his , already fine, presentation.

Rosen looks fantastic.
Romanov mouthing “No, no” as hockey Jedi noted, during the review is classic and calm netminder gold. He looks like he has the disposition and the talent.

I wonder if the review only focused on the puck going in off a skate. If it were for the offsides they missed, they might still be playing.

CIWYW is dead on again. Dean missed most all of the previous season and came on like gang busters for the last 4-5 games and was slotted for chance to make the roster. I bet he works his Maritime behind off this summer as he pushes for another chance in the NHL.

Somni, I don’t think anyone seriously thinks you are bored. Even though your name is a root term for sleep….

I’ll also note that the OT goal was pretty clearly offside and the AHL has already admitted so and apologized to the P-Bruins. Not all AHL buildings have the blueline cameras needed for offside replay like the NHL does but are trying to get that implemented in all buildings for next season.

Hahaha. I used to have the moniker, northwest dave. But there was a purge some 15 years ago and I lost it.
The name somni was a temporary login for a company I was working at the time. I'm not that creative, so I used and it's now stuck.

I'm excited to camp next year. It should be good one.
