Auston Matthews wants out in Toronto

Post by Galatians221jb1 »

Kyrou was born in Toronto. Would he waive his no trade and would we have to give more? His public statements don’t enhance his trade value imho.

Kyrou and picks and prospects galore. We have all the picks and prospects anyone could want.
Im on board. Seems far fetched. Big deals rarely happen.

It would certanly be very kind if Toronto would do that for us.

If they want Mattews buy a replica jersey. Vegas getting good mileage out of Eichel but he didn't potentially lose a step, or even half. I'm for shopping elsewhere.

Oh gawd, here we go with the endless GET MATTHEWS INSTANT CONTENDER posts ad naseum.

F THAT. I dont want some other teams former superstar who’s rapidly approaching over the hill status and is constantly injured.

Expect and want better, people.

Blues wouldn't be trading Kyrou for Auston Matthews. If that were happening, it would be a full rebuild scenario for Toronto where they might even be looking to deal Knies. They would be asking for the Blues 1st round picks, probably pick up a contract like Drouin and then try and flip Knies For 2 more 1sts and a couple depth picks.

The Blues wouldn't want to necessarily trade Kyrou either if they were acquiring a Matthews because Matthews is known for his responsible 2 way play. They would want to stick Kyrou on that line.

You would go
Hollywood/Thomas/Snuggy
Kyrou/Matthews/Neighbours
Buchy/Dvorsky/Stenberg
Torpedo/Suter/Finley
walker

You would be risking it all but basically would saddle up Dvorsky and Stenberg with a vet, have a nice 4th line and maybe a good 1-2 punch top 6.

Your 3rd/RHD would be on a minimum salary. Blues could make this work right now btw without moving a single contract piece today and still have 2.5m left to sign a RHD.

Matthews will be 29 this coming season with cap hit of $13.2M.
He'll be a UFA after 27-28 season.
He has a no movement clause.

And, as mentioned, a knee injury.

I'd rather just trade Kyrou to Toronto and steer clear of Austin..

the contract does work. the value is whether or not you can do it without giving up any immediate assets. The Blues have 15.85m in cap space available to them. They have 20/23 rostered players signed including

12/12 starting forward positions.
6/7 potential Dmen
both goalies

To make our current roster viable, you need to make 1 dman signing and 2 offensive ones. If you took Auston matthews 13.25 ou would have 2.6 to get that done. Just based off the guys on roster alone, you could probably bridge both Berg and Kessel under that. If not you can bring up a defender in that RHD and a forward. Those players are guys like Stenberg

ANYWAYS, you also have the 6.5 from Krug that comes off the books. The real cap the Blues are at is 88,149- 6,500 which is 81649. The Blues have 22.5ish mil to make 3 roster signings next year.

If the Blues wanted to acquire Matthews, they could do it no problem and slot him in and he wouldn't be blocking a player.

Send Buchnevich along with Kyrou. That’s 16 million going out and Matthews 13 million coming back. It could be done.

Depending on what they have done with surgery it can take a full year before they are close to what they were. With the timing of the injury he's not who he was until near the end of next season.

I'm for certain that Chief would love to be saddled, er, reunited with Kyrou.
