Now we need an enforcer to keep the goons from taking liberties with Holloway and Snuggerud who at some point in the future will also be locked up.

These guys will be fine. Players need to be man-tough and that doesn't mean being a goon or an enforcer, just tough enough to absorb punishment and dish some out when appropriate. Holloway's first injury was likely a fluke, he's shown a willingness to stand up in scrums.11WSChamps wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:12 am Now we need an enforcer to keep the goons from taking liberties with Holloway and Snuggerud who at some point in the future will also be locked up.
What the team does NOT need is BT style buffoonery antics. Emulate Carolina: be tough, be physical, but beat them up on the scoreboard. Blues are headed in that direction, work-in-progress.

Re: Holloway signed for 5 years
Per Army, Holloway and Broberg "jumpstarted" the rebuild. Sure it did that. But the real equivalent was that the offer sheets took us out of contention for the many great players drafted shortly after. Celebrini and Schaeffer among them.
Going forward, Broberg and Holloway are OUR CELEBRINI and SCHAEFFER. Without question, Army was not going to let them walk. He is going to put them on the Blues mantle, over the fireplace. They are Army's 10-year ELIXIR for NOT CATCHING a high draft pick.
Will Broberg and Hollway compare favorably to Celebrini and Schaeffer? Hmmm. We shall see.
When people consider the FULL COST OF THE 2 OFFER SHEETS, never forget to put Celebrini on the ledger.
I was upset immediately when the offer sheets were completed, and I still think that it was a bad move. Remember, the Blues are PAID BY THE NHL to avoid the high picks in the NHL Draft. The Blues had no choice but to bring in some immediate talent.
Follow the Blues at your own risk. Follow if you don't mind the HOF talent going elsewhere for the remainder of your life.

I agree, but a guy who can play hockey and be that physical presence is needed, so I agree with WS. An example would be a guy like Xhekaj or Olivier. Obviously they aren’t going anywhere, but a player like that would go a long way for this team in my mind. They had Maroon on the Cup team in that role. Along with Edmundson.DawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:26 amThese guys will be fine. Who's the enforcer for Carolina? Colorado? Manson? [Kadri is just a punk]. I don't deny there can be a place for a guy but he needs to play hockey and keep the antics under control.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:59 amI agree, but a guy who can play hockey and be that physical presence is needed, so I agree with WS. Re: Holloway signed for 5 years
You keep using the word enforcer, I’m not. Xhekaj plays bottom pair defense, as did Eddy/Borts. Olivier plays 3rd line wing, as did Maroon. And Carolina haven’t gotten past the conf finals in a while. The Avs did in 2022, but haven’t since. Bad examples. Take a look at the Minny lineup that just ran Dallas out of the building/series. It’s an element that “helps” a team. Not 100% necessary, but sure doesn’t hurt. I would take a guy like Jeremy Lauzon in our bottom pair as a UFA.DawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 12:32 pmWho's the enforcer for Carolina? Colorado? Manson? [Kadri is just a punk]. Dude Carolina traded for Nicolas Deslauriers this year because for years they were considered softDawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:26 amThese guys will be fine. These "team toughness no goon" takes around here always make me laugh
To create toughness you have to add tough guys
This Blues team absolutely needs to add some Beef, especially after trading Schenn

really like what I'm seeing from Jeffrey Viel. Ducks 4th line shut down the Oils big boys. and look what Mathieu Olivier turned into with Blue Jackets. These guys are out there, you just got to give them a chance to stick.taynos wrote: ↑03 May 2026 14:51 pmDude Carolina traded for Nicolas Deslauriers this year because for years they were considered softDawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:26 amThese guys will be fine. Get the Xhekaj brothers out of Montreal wouldn't be a horrible idea IMO.

Please go back to the other Oiler fans. I know you want to just take a toll on us Blues fans for pulling of the heist of the decade that cost your team a cup, but really...its time to let go. BTW, the fact that even the McDavid can't get Edmonton a cup defeats your whole argument about have a top pick that will solve all of a teams issues. Just go away.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:42 am Per Army, Holloway and Broberg "jumpstarted" the rebuild. Sure it did that. Thank you! He played ZERO minutes Saturday (not dressed) and has played 3:09 in ONE game this playoffs.Yeah, that was game 4 vs BT.taynos wrote: ↑03 May 2026 14:51 pmDude Carolina traded for Nicolas Deslauriers this year because for years they were considered softDawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:26 amThese guys will be fine. I stand by my assertion the more important focus is on skilled players taking care of themselves and their linemates while playing hockey. Big and slow isn't going to get it done. Neither is Kyrou without help.

Tyler Boucher might be a 1st round bust for Ottawa; but might be worth the look (for cheap?). and a guy like Trevor Kuntar could be worth a look (contract).

I mean being physical/mean and making the other teams uncomfortable is great but the idea that it offers any protection or anything like that is nonsense. We need hockey players but sure I agree that big tough and mean is a bonus.DawgDad wrote: ↑03 May 2026 15:13 pmThank you! Certainly won't be when and if they make the playoffs.
Im not talking 1980s type of player with 300 penalty minutes.
Good Lord.

In the playoffs they especially like going on the power player because you retaliate. There is not "protection"11WSChamps wrote: ↑03 May 2026 16:34 pmIt's not nonsense.skilles wrote: ↑03 May 2026 16:04 pmI mean being physical/mean and making the other teams uncomfortable is great but the idea that it offers any protection or anything like that is nonsense.
