Bryan Torres
Torres deserves a thread of his own. This Sat afternoon he'(poop) a homerun and, leading off an inning in his nextAB, he laid down a perfect bunt on the first pitch. Not even a throw to first
He's got a 20-game on-base streak and 10-game hitting streak
OBA is close to .500. He's playing CF today, yesterday 2B. He's fast, steals bases. He's experienced at the AAA level.
Time to call him up, whether for Saggese or Scott (or Urias, etc.).

I'm in favor of that. I don't know how his arm is or what his defense is like, but, the bat plays...and I bet it does in the majors as well.

Re: Bryan Torres
I agree he definitely deserves a chance. I also see Matthew’s had a good game he’s had two decent starts in a row hopefully he is turning a corner

Hard to think his bat could possibly play worse than Scott's at this pointhugeCardfan wrote: ↑02 May 2026 14:45 pm I'm in favor of that. I don't know how his arm is or what his defense is like, but, the bat plays...and I bet it does in the majors as well.

Re: Bryan Torres
No doubt they need to give Torres a shot.
Good news on Matthews.
Baez has a single, HR (454' to dead center) and 2b (double was down the RF line, but drilled). He's starting to come on strong after a rough time. An .845 OPS now. But Torres, Crooks, Mendoza, and Prieto all have .890 to 1.004 OPS!

Re: Bryan Torres
I didn’t realize he had 500 ab at AAA between this year and last.
Him and JJ would make a nice 1-2 punch if he can get on in the majors. Or even bat 9th.
Scott is worse than Walker and Gorman ever were and they got sent down before.
Scott looks bad at the plate and can’t throw from center field.
I have my doubts that he will ever be a productive major leaguer.

I had thought Scott would be great as a late inning base stealer and defensive replacement, but he hasn't been very good in those roles eitherCardinals1964 wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:37 pm I didn’t realize he had 500 ab at AAA between this year and last.

Baez also upped his BA to .248. And Mathews gave up 1 ER and 2 hits, 3 walks and had 7 Ks in 5 innings pitched.ClassicO wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:30 pm No doubt they need to give Torres a shot.

Re: Bryan Torres
I'd love to see Torres in LF batting 9th for a while. Give him a chance to see if his AAA play translates to the MLB level. This top 4 would be even more dangerous with a .350+ OBP out of the 9 hole

Re: Bryan Torres
Agreed. I know oli woudnt bat him second because he wouldnt have LL at the top but ninth would fine with him getting on base for jj and herreraCardinals1964 wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:37 pm I didn’t realize he had 500 ab at AAA between this year and last.

He's terrible...quick and can steal bit doesn't matter when you can't get to first...covers ground but can't throw...he will give ya flames a few games here and there but overall he won't amount to much ....give Torres a shotCardinals1964 wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:37 pm I didn’t realize he had 500 ab at AAA between this year and last.

Re: Bryan Torres
100%. It has to be frustrating for a guy to perform at AAA and be stuck behind a guy that can’t hit. He had 400 of bats last year at AAA. Hundred at bats this year and his average stays the same. I’d be frustrated.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑02 May 2026 16:02 pmAgreed. Re: Bryan Torres
Defensive replacement for who? If Noot and Church are out there, hes not spelling them. Its starting to look like, because he has no arm, hes a one tool player.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:58 pmI had thought Scott would be great as a late inning base stealer and defensive replacement, but he hasn't been very good in those roles eitherCardinals1964 wrote: ↑02 May 2026 15:37 pm I didn’t realize he had 500 ab at AAA between this year and last.
