Thoughts on Wyatt Cullen?

His stock has been rising and appeared in latest BN mock. Not sayin' it's the best mock. Just his name keeps popping up and was slated to the Blues at 15. Interesting draft prospect.

There probably isn’t a player in the 2026 NHL Draft class with more helium right now than Cullen. Once he “found” a couple extra inches of height in the final listings from NHL Central Scouting, his stock felt secure as a first-round prospect. Almost eligible for next year's draft. Good bloodlines. Skating ability. Great shot. Needs work defensively, but college could straighten that out.

Shot up like 3 inches - drinking his milk. I think he would be a great pick at 15.

We are going to get two really good players, maybe three. I know you draft BPA. If we miraculously get Stenberg or McKenna, I am fine with a winger. However, we need to upgrade center (glaring need) and defense. We are deep on the wings, and goaltending looks solid. We need players that create and control the pace of the game. Steen's task is to get us in position to draft elite centers. I've have no opinion on wingers as a result.

Klepov (a winger) controls the pace of the game and can fish the puck. A playmaker doesn’t have to be a center

If Armstrong can’t let go and still exerts influence (which he will) for the worse for sure. I’d like to see what Steen could do with the leash off and if he completely [censored] the bed, which is likely, we go get an actual established GM.

Scratching my head here. Nothing has happened yet.

Typically promotions from within do not result in earth-shifting changes, those come from firings and outside eyes and fingers. Army and Steen have been working together for quite a while now and Army won't be stepping back (up) until after the draft. The strong signals are they have a plan (framework) and they'll stick with it. I expect Steen will begin to emerge as a GM around camp unless he has some targeted player movements up his sleeve for the summer.

Armstrong is still running this year's draft and as he stated they just pick whoever Tony Feltrin tells them to draft.. not sure how there is a change coming.

I’ve liked Cullen all year. Pretty clearly the NTDP’s best player. Was hoping to be able to steal him at 15 but his stock is rising now so wouldn’t be surprised if he goes higher. His offensive potential isn’t as high as some of the others but he already has a good defensive game and he has an excellent compete level. Some may call that “safe” but he’s got talent too. I’d be very happy with him at 15 and would be ok with him at 11.

The concern I have is I see a drop off after the 10 I like the most so of course the Blues draft 11th.. My hope is that a couple of the teams see it differently (which is probable) and one of those 10 is still there at 11 and the Blues see it the same way I do.
