City has top notch NHL fans and corporate support. High ratings.

Should be an excellent destination for the best coaching candidates in all of hockey. I'm excited to see who they bring in.

What asst coaches have left the Blues to become head coaches? What you say is true for Asst GMs (Kekkelainen and Bill Armstrong) but I can’t really think of the same path existing for Asst Coaches.

What asst coaches have left the Blues to become head coaches? What you say is true for Asst GMs (Kekkelainen and Bill Armstrong) but I can’t really think of the same path existing for Asst Coaches.

He has promoted from within, and yeah maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of just the front office, but Ott has gone on a few head coaching interviews.

John Stevens, Todd Nelson, David Backes, Andrew Cogliano, Blake Comeau, Chris Kelly, Matt Irwin, Dallas Ferguson, Jason Spezza, Joe Pavelski

Many already have jobs. My guess would be Stevens for sure. Others would be difficult but would like to see Nelson and Backed or Pavelski

My under the radar name would be David Carle (U of Denver head coach).
They have had interest in him for years now...

Thorburn has done a LOT of work with our prospect tournament teams in recent years.

He was a great locker room guy from what I remember. Played 801 games in the NHL too!

And if I am not mistaken, I thought the Blues had sent him to the minors during his final season and then brought him back at the end of the year to make sure he got in to two games to make sure he received a full pension (800 games) and also would guarantee him medical coverage for his special needs child.

I believe you're correct with that. I know the Blues did something "out of the way" to help him & his family. A really good gesture.

You know the Blues organization gets dogged on for some of the things they do, and some rightfully so, but little things like that go completely unnoticed and unappreciated by the regular folk.

Here's a guy who had only been with the organization for a few seasons, didn't play a whole lot, got sent down to the minors but due to a NHLPA agreement could not have gotten his medical coverage and pension because of 2 games, and the Blues management makes sure that happens. He has a son with autism (which is one of the main reasons he came here and has stayed here) and has never stopped working for the Blues. He spent every game of the 2019 cup run in the press box but celebrated every single win with the boys and got his ring as well. From all reports he's just one of those really good guys in life and I'm quite glad the Blues did right by him.

I remember the story. It is stories like this, that make me proud to be a fan of the Blue Note! Thanks for the reminder on C.T.

Rumor is he’s turned down NHL head coach jobs to stay. I doubt he comes to the Blues as an assistant when he’s already a high level college coach with championships under his belt. When he’s ready, he will go to the NHL as the HC.

The Blues shouldn't be messing with their FO unless they are looking for possible seasoning for guys so they need to get them some kind of position. My hope is that the Blues go a little outside the box. It also makes me wonder are they planning on bringing Otter back into the fold? We should know information on who is being hired in the next week or so, if the Blues stick to the timelines they have done before where they are start making moves once the first round is done. There's really no other reason to wait around. You aren't going to be grabbing assistants from other teams unless there is some up and comer who isn't getting as big of a role.
