Cards need to bring Torres and Prieto/Velazquez up
And Scott and Saggese need to go down.
Torres has MORE than earned a shot, Prieto has earned a shot as well, and I know Nelson V is not off to a great start but he still offers more power potential towards the bottom of the lineup.
All three on the 40 man, and during their mini-slide what could it hurt?? Torres and Prieto or Nelson V. are the moves

Hitting isn't why they're losing at this point in the season.

Yup, the Cardinals' two biggest problems are their rotation and their bullpen. I guess they could swap Torres for Scott or Saggese but I think the impact would be marginal.

Not trying to slight the OP.....and Torres & Prieto may both be worthy of getting their shot BUT....the pitching is the sore spot.
Today they scored 9 but lost because the only 2 reliable relievers to date coughed up 4 in the last two innings!

They should do both church in center would be better offensively and defensively and Torres in left who knows what Torres could do but it would probably be better than Scott. Add better offense and better pitchingCusecards wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 19:52 pmYes the pitching?BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 18:56 pmOr, how about some pitching!Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 18:41 pm And Scott and Saggese need to go down.

Velasquez is not on the 40 man roster

Pitching is what we need. Need a long man for the pen. Starters not going past 5. Some like today less than 4.

He’s never really been listed on their top prospects list and he will be 29 in July.
But he has a lifetime BA of over .300 in the minors so it sounds like he puts the bat on the ball.
No real power.
Fine with me if he gets a look as I have always liked good contact hitters.
I get having a bit of a leash with Scott and Church has been coming on!
Then you also have to factor in Noot the end of May!
Baez also of course is much higher on the radar.
Torres could be the odd man out?

Re: Cards need to bring Torres and Prieto/Velazquez up
Well they thought enough about Torres to add him to the 40 man instead of willing to risk losing him now is the time to see what he can do before Baez comes up and noot comes back. Although I don’t know if noot will be back in may or June Bernie said when he asked cardinals staff about when noot would be back they dodged the question and wouldn’t answer it and that made him think noot would be out a lot longer than anticipated. But Torres coming up is just my opinion he might suck worse than Scott who knowsCusecards wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 20:40 pmOz I confess to not knowing much about Torres!Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 20:09 pmThey should do both church in center would be better offensively and defensively and Torres in left who knows what Torres could do but it would probably be better than Scott. Swap Torres and Scott. See what you have in Torres before Baez comes up.

At worst Torres could become the 4th OF and get PT in rotation.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 22:37 pmWell they thought enough about Torres to add him to the 40 man instead of willing to risk losing him now is the time to see what he can do before Baez comes up and noot comes back. I especially would like Prieto up here and Saggese sent down where he belongs.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑25 Apr 2026 18:41 pm And Scott and Saggese need to go down.

No issue w/VSII being demoted either.
And while Bloom's at it, DFA Stanek and bring up a RP.

Yep, now is the time. Play him in LF, Nate in CF and JW in RF, see what he can do before Baez eventually knocks the door down. He may never get another shot, good window for him now, put him 9th with no pressure and if he is still an OBP machine, JJ and Ivan will have good RBI chances

Not sure why Stanek keeps getting reps, even with tonights inning
