They stopped throwing the high fastball to Walker

Post by vegascardsfan5890 »

Everything has been low and away or or middle in for the last week. He needs to adjust and not chase those low and away pitches or he is going to become the old walker again

Agree ! That last at bat in the 9th was good though. He hit that ball on the barrel with good exit velo but unfortunately it was right at the SS.
Easy double play . Keep hitting the ball hard and good things happen . Be patient ..easier said than done .. Don't chase being anxious to get a hit.

I posted a topic about that recently. Teams will pitch around him and he needs to avoid chasing pitches. Same with Wetherholt. Teams were nibbling and he was walking a lot. Now that teams know he has plate discipline they will start throwing strikes.

It was a ground ball DP……that’s what happens when you reach and attempt to pull the outside pitch…..who cares how hard it was hit..
This over fascination with exit velocity for a game where there are finite spots on the field to hit it safely is laughable.

I was wondering how long his hot streak would last. I hope he soon has another one but I doubt it.

We all are well away of Walker’s path to date and his struggles.
His approach/plate discipline were obviously in dramatic need of improvement.
Season to date? He has clearly shown improvement.
Does he still struggle? Yes....but seemingly not as much.
Guess we’ll have to see how it plays out?
