Musician Dave Mason passed April 19 at the age of 79. Mason was a founding member of the band Traffic in 1967, and then had a long solo career. He was a talented guitarist and also played many other instruments. He wrote some great songs - one of which he recorded with Traffic - "Feelin' Alright?" - which was later covered by Joe Cocker. My favorite song he wrote and sang on Traffic's second LP, one of the few of Mason's songs where it really felt like a total band effort:
"Don't Be Sad"

I consider his first solo album - Alone Together to be a masterpiece, with many of his greatest songs, such as:
"Only You Know and I Know"

"World in Changes"

"Look at You Look at Me"

Re: RIP Dave Mason
One of the nicest girls I ever dated in college out in Northern CA went with me to see DM on our first date. Great memory. He had a unique sound.
She was a pre-med, taking Organic Chem II, always looking at flash-cards.
Hope she made it.
