Re: 31 RBI in 14 games
I would guess that you could add both Baez and Rainiel into that lineup within 2 years. It could be a very deep lineup.
2B Wetherholt
LF Herrera
1B Burleson
RF Walker
DH Rodriguez
CF Baez
3B Gorman
C Bernal
SS Winn
I hope everyone continues to perform.

He leads the team in times on base too. It's not his fault the guys behind him aren't driving him in. I'll give you his lack of speed being a factor in his low run total. So is being without a homerun.Herrera leads the team in PA's - and is currently the worst at scoring runs.
Reality is, he is NOT helping the Walker, Gorman, and Burleson RBI total.

I'm not ready to call the current middle of the order the MV3. Gorman is still the weak link. He strikes out too much and hovers around the Mendoza line.

Re: 31 RBI in 14 games
Fox put up a graphic last night that showed Cardinal home runs and it showed “Walker/Burleson” with 6, and the rest of the team with 4 or 5. Of course of those 6, 5 belong to Walker. They also lumped their RBIs together too, of which Walker also had the lion’s share.
I didn’t really get the purpose of that. They could’ve used “Walker/Urias” which would’ve collectively been more HRs.
For some reason it seems like the media is trying to push a narrative that Burleson is a superstar. Many seem to buy the narrative too. I think he’s one of the most overrated Cardinals I can recall, and I wish they would’ve sold high on him during all the other selloffs. Alright Burly lovers…come and get me! Lol

I think that's a valid argument. The two main reasons are his age, and only having three years of control remaining. Maybe they are confident they can extend him 2-3 years beyond that. By all accounts he's a funny dude, and keeps the team loose, which is big with a young group like this.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 13:33 pm Fox put up a graphic last night that showed Cardinal home runs and it showed “Walker/Burleson” with 6, and the rest of the team with 4 or 5. lol with gorman being propped up by the other 2, to make your list.
he has 8 rbi's, hitting .220 and is softer than baby doodie.

Walker is propping up both and his sample is microscopic at this point. Wetherholt and Urias are doing better than the other two “MV3”.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 13:56 pm lol with gorman being propped up by the other 2, to make your list.

Not surpass.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 12:30 pmThey aren’t going to surpass that group. Maybe a productive 2 4 6 or 3 5 6 but we still need another massive bat to lengthen the lineup. Imagine if we had a Matt holiday or Marcell Ozuna in their primes playing left field instead of church. Where would they bat in the order?Melville wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 09:37 amActually, those are the groups to whom I was referring.kscardsfan wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 09:21 am Pujols,Rolen, Holliday, Beltran and the likes may disagree with you. Now move that back to 10 yrs. Or even 5 yrs. Funny.
It has been more than 10 years since STL has had a highly productive 3-person middle order presence.
2012-2013 was the last time.
It is way early, but Walker, Burleson, Gorman are currently showing the ability to match that group.
And possibly even surpass them - which would require a look back to Pujols/Edmonds/Rolen era to find higher middle order production.
Let's see what happens.
Or even match, in all probability.
Not the point.
Rather, the team has hitters at 3/4/5 who are doing a very good job of driving in runs so far this season.
Could be the most productive grouping since 2012/13.
Or longer.

All 3 with an RBI today, even with the top 2 in the lineup being just 1-7.
All 3 on track for 95+ RBI.

Exactly and he needs to be driving the ball not walking.Melville wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 12:26 pmWorth noting that Wetherholt has scored 10 runs.
Herrera just 3.
In fact, Herrera has scored a meager 3 runs the entire season despite hitting 2nd.
He is tied for dead last with Pages, among all STL hitters with 30 or more PA's.

Another 5 hits, 2 RBI and one HR from that group last night. Of course, 4 of the 5 hits, both RBI and the HR came from Burleson and Walker. But, Gorman did contribute 3 of the 4 strikeouts among the three. Now, how's that Gorman meter looking?

I've been watching IH closely, and I'm starting to worry about him. If he doesn't show life by 01may, he won't be DHing. We are desperate to get some offensive production out of our catchers.Melville wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026 12:26 pmWorth noting that Wetherholt has scored 10 runs.

There is a lot of noise around Torres. Put him in left at lead off, then JJ Burleson Walker and Herrera.BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑14 Apr 2026 06:54 amI've been watching IH closely, and I'm starting to worry about him. In MLB lineups, longer is better. Let’s get him up here. Subtract Fermin or Pozo.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2026 07:03 amThere is a lot of noise around Torres. Re: 31 RBI in 14 games
Me too. He has a two year record of hitting well so I keep telling myself he'll break out any day. He has hits in his last two games so that's a little encouraging but he's sure been a funk this year. Not just the low BA but his power has disappeared too.I've been watching IH closely, and I'm starting to worry about him.
He still leads the team in reaching base safely so #2 is his spot but it's getting hard to justify keeping him in the lineup at all.
