I don't see why it would be a big problem to fix. After the draft, you freeze rosters until the season starts with a full schedule.. Then you follow waiver rules. True it would a big free for all that opening day but everyone would have a shot at the players.

Now I said FULL schedule. You always have that 1 or 2 games early. For those you allow team owners if they have a player on one those early teams that goes NA or IL, yep they get to make a pick early. Probably wouldn't be more 2 or 3 players going early.

Anyway whatever the majority wants is fine

It's baked into the pick. I was sitting there looking at all the players available within that 120-140 range or so. Did I want to pick one of them over the risk of seeing someone else get Griffin? No I didn't so I took him, nothing unfair about it.

Chourio was a surprise IL guy for me, on Opening Day. And then Nick Lodolo had a blister issue.

I think no matter how you cut it, you're going to end up with roster spots to cover between the draft and Opening day. I like it that way it's a good challenge.
The problem is in NOT being allowed to fill roster spots. I made two picks of guys I knew would be on IL but neither was place officially under the season started. So while you all were adding IL and NA guys, some of us could only watch.
You could have also added them. Even if you’re holding two spots open for existing IL players, there are two more. You could have also added NA players.

That’s because the teams can’t officially add them to IL until the season starts. The exception are the 60 day guys.

So when you’re drafting, if you know someone is going to start the season on IL for the first week or month or whatever …. you know that going in. You’re not going to be able to do anything with them until the start of the season. Just goes back to draft strategy.

I definitely don’t think freezing rosters makes any sense. You chose to draft a player in that position. That shouldn’t preclude anyone else from making any moves.

At least baseball isn’t as bad as hockey. In hockey, there are some players who are hurt for like a month, and for whatever reason, the team doesn’t place them on injured reserve. So they’re just listed as out and you can’t do anything with them other than drop.

It would not have disallowed adding NA or IL players from waivers. There were very few players designated to the IL prior to the seasons start, so everyone with injured players had the same issue with being unable to move them to IL slots. As for NA players, they are added to those spots automatically when you claim them, and nothing would have prevented you from adding them.

Ever have DUH moment that last several days? I'll be 73 end of May, the rate I'm going by age 80 it'll be one LOOOOOOOONG DUH moment. Final realized I picked up both Quinn Mathews and Kopech as NA before season started. How did I get so off track? I can only guess. The guess is I know I wanted to move Steele and Edman to IL. Neither was placed officially early like some were. So when the system wouldn't allow me to move them to IL, I suppose I got it in my head that couldn't add anyone who was on the IL ........... I don't know, that doesn't make much sense but..... Sorry for the confusion.

I had a backup claim for dropping Stanek, but it still displayed the bid for Topa after the claim was off the board. I don’t know why it still displays the bid.

It’s starting to seem odd… we don’t have a trade yet in this league.
