I was at the game today. Walker took much better ABs with some hard contact. I will be happy to be wrong about him.

I’m with you. Hope he figured it out…. tattoos the ball going forward. Bring up Baez and insert in LF. Hope Scoot can get on base. Finally an OF!!

If Baez can keep going, and Walker can finally blossom, we could just about put Peter Bourjos out there and have a net positive outfield

Good point Strummer. When the corner OFers are making hard contact, CF can be a leather only job.

I am really trying to tamp down my enthusiasm for this lineup. I keep saying it's small sample size and all that. But truth be told I am seeing a lot to be positive about. I think I predicted something like 75 wins this year. I would happily be off by 10 games. :D

Yeah obviously it’s early but what I like so far is the team is taking good at bats. Working the count. Not getting fooled. Most notably Gorman and Walker, surprisingly enough. But JJ already looks like he’s been in the majors for a few years. Burly is looking solid. Scott is creating offense at the bottom. It’s certainly a promising start.

I know it’s only 3 games for Walker but at least a positive 3 games.

Was at the game today. Thought Walker looked really good in his at bats. Hopefully he can keep it going

But wait. Melville wanted him to slam into the wall yesterday and maybe spend a month or so on the dl.

Remember, last year Walker had an .807 OPS for the month of July. I like what I see, but he can fall.off quickly. Since he is only 23, I am more optimistic that this could be something he figured out.

Not helpful, it's showing that you were cut from your JV team.

I watched a video on dealin cards and they brought up a good point that said he in the past he had spurts where the results were good but the approach and process were bad which leads to that success being unsustainable but so far the approach and process are improved and that can lead to sustainable success. I thought that was a great summation of it. Can he keep that approach and process when he struggles will he crater again? If they adjust how long before he adjusts? Who knows but at least there is a glimmer of life right now

Glad you were at the game , BFM ! Question for you regarding Walker .. the at bat when Winn was on 3rd with 2 outs and Walker (wth 2 strikes on hi m) took a ball that appeared on TV box to be just below the strikezone box , the ump called strike3 as JW didn't swing. However, he did not challenge it either Did yo are any fans around you question why Walker elected NOT to ask for a challenge there . Sure puzzled some of us on CT forum at the time.

Maybe Oli has set ground rules on when to challenge.

To that point, though, I feel like Walker has made some big defensive plays. The hitting has lagged behind, but I think his defense has improved each year.

I doubt he brings home a gold glove, but if he can be a slightly above average....
