IF spring wasn't a mirage, then I could see 25+ HR, 80+ RBI for Norman as well.
But this is it, sink or swim season for him (and J. Walker).
Norman has the longer leash given his power but both have to show something this season or it's "bye-bye".

It is an act and it is old and desperately in need of new material. The same old one liners are now just comic relief.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 19:06 pmYour act was entertaining for a while. "I have also predicted 25+ HR, 80+ RBI, and 80 runs scored per every 600 PA's if they would simply allow him regular playing time."
No More Excuses.
He's been given the starting 3b job. If he doesn't have 600 PAs, it's HIS fault.
Game 1 - 1/4 - 2 RBI, 1 Run
Good start. I'm hoping that he exceeds those numbers.
But it is never about me.
I find it somewhat odd when someone attempts to make a thread focused on me, whereas I am only and always about the game.
Never for, never against, any player.
Here is the bias free, agenda free, reality.
In 1585 career PA's, Gorman has produced 74 HR, 209 RBI, and 193 runs scored.
That equates to 28 HR, 79 RBI, and 73 runs scored per every 600 PA's over the course of his career right now.
And that solid, consistent production has been produced despite incompetent leadership on the part of the Cardinal staff which has undermined him over the past 2 seasons with irregular playing time and with constantly changing assignments over the entire 4 years of his time in STL.
In other words, my analysis is simply a fact-based assessment of who he already has been - and currently is.
Bottom line.
Unless The Marmot is once again allowed to be a complete idiot in his handling of player assignments, there is a 100% certainty that Gorman will produce at the rate the data has established.
And, very likely, even higher.
It’s always about you. Every time you start out that you were the first and only, it’s always about you.
Carry on though, at least you’re not a jerk.
On the plus side he does form solid opinions and appears knowledgeable.
But when he begins(and ends) every post with telling you how wonderful he is I refuse to acknowledge his argument/viewpoint.
In fairness.....there have been times when I have engaged in good baseball talk with him. But that is only on the RARE occasions where he does NOT act the part of a pompous arrogant clown.
I’d say his pompous “act” is at about 90%.
Too bad he doesn’t chose to grow up and change.
In the end he is harmless.
Go Cards!

Let's see if anyone does that.
There is a 100% probability of that happening - unless The Marmot continues his past incompetence in assigning playing time.
Him getting in the way is the only obstacle.
Look no further than the IL times.

the departed BD 32 g
AB is the player who shows up he missed 10 which helped make him a starter.
It's a strong trend over the last 3 seasons.

Re: Gorman meter: 25+ HR, 80+ RBI, and 80 runs scored
Time to read the meter after the first series, since the OP apparently intends to track it.
10 PA's.
4 RBI.
2 runs scored.
1 HR.
Current pace per 600 PA's:
60 HR
120 runs.
240 RBI.
Only 2 K's in 10 PA's is certainly encouraging.
Closing the stance and shortening the swing with 2 strikes are visibly something he has been working on.

If he gets those 600 PAs. The brilliant Oli already had Urias at 3B in Game 3. Gorman needs to play nearly every day.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 16:46 pm Melville » 27 Mar 2026 13:24 pm

And was benched today because, OMG, a pitcher throwing with his LH was on the mound. Matts ain't that deadly vs. LHH. And Gorman has shown power vs. LHP. Need to find out about him, not Urias.ecleme22 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2026 16:45 pmGorman DHed yesterdayicon wrote: ↑29 Mar 2026 16:24 pmIf he gets those 600 PAs. Indeed, I did say he needed to close his stance and become more square & upright - as well as simply seek contact with 2 strikes.
Good to see you were taking notes.
It is way early to make judgements, but good to see him doing as I advised.
Also, it was helpful for STL to trade N/A for a 2nd time, removing an unmerited blockage to playing time.
Encouraging, certainly.
Let's see what happens.

The 3rd base platoon is working well. He’ll get ~450 PAs this season which is right in the sweet spot.Melville wrote: ↑29 Mar 2026 18:45 pmNever one to promote myself, none the less you do make a fair point.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2026 18:02 pmIsn’t that the kind of stuff you were saying last season when he had his brief hot streak before collapsing into suckage?Melville wrote: ↑29 Mar 2026 16:22 pm Time to read the meter after the first series, since the OP apparently intends to track it.

Is it time to read the meter again?
How often should the meter be read?
