Such an absolute joke (Dodgers)

Post by ShakeyWalton »

It’s a joke. They are spending dough nobody can and it’s not fun. The 90’s and 2000’s Sox and Yanks spending was fun because it wasn’t nearly this out of control. I don’t even recognize their WS wins the last few years. AWFUL for sports. Absolutely awful

They have to fix it. Might have to lock the
Players out and do a total revamp. Those millionaires don’t need a union. Millionaires playing for billionaires.

Highly doubt you would be saying that if you were one of the players. Prior to a union , the players were locked ino one employer for their entire career. Remember the 'reserve clause' . Today's present 6 year structure to get to free agency enables players the right to work for any of the 30 teams who may bid for him.
Yes, there needs to be changes . That's what collective bargaining is about . Give and take for both sides.

The major issues aren’t really the players’ fault, it’s mostly some of the owners, and the agents. You can’t blame the players for taking the money being offered to them, but agents like Boras are exploiting the system and holding it hostage. However, a few owners have created this mess and the current system cant rein them in. The problem is that they can afford to spend like they do, and the rest of the owners can’t. Not to that extreme anyway. Sure, a lot of them could spend more ( like the DeWitt’s) but not to levels of the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, and others. The current luxury tax isn’t deterring them enough, so the TV deals is what is really separating the teams. That has to be reconfigured and spread out more equally to even up the playing field. Then if certain owners can still afford to spend more I quess that’s their choice.

But, they don’t have JJW. They aren’t even trying at this point.

MLB has been steadily losing ground to the other major sports.
The NFL bypassed them years ago.
So did the NBA.
NHL is better set up also.
It’ll interesting to see if they do anything in the upcoming contract but I doubt much gets done.
Too bad!

The Dodgers are good for the game. They draw a lot of national and international fan interest with Ohtani,Freeman,Mookie and that's an asset for MLB. It's similar to the Yankees in the Reggie Jackson, Thurmon Munson and even Steinbrenner. Or the Tom Brady era with the Pats.

Is diminishing the status of the the Dodgers, Yankees, etc. really good for the game?

Does the country/world really want to see a Pittsburgh-Minnesota World Series.?

Unless MLB gets serious about a payroll cap and deferred contracts the Dodgers will surpass the Cardinals with most NL World Series wins.

to be fair, NY Yankmees did have a lot of home grown talent on the team.

Things can only go south in LA in the future. No one can replicate their dynasty forever.

I use NE patriots. The Reds. The A’s, all dynasty’s crumble. The trick is, where are we at to pick up the scraps.
