Yep, they were needing a good leadoff hitter to solidify their lineup and Brendan will fill that role. They could be a special team if their pitching stays healthy.

I would think Donovan.

A veteran player who knows his way around a full season, the travel, preparation, etc.

Would have still loved to have him, he was my favorite player the last few years and someone I loved watched with the seasons were otherwise meaningless.

I get why they traded him but he would have looked good at 3rd this year with Gorman at DH

You really think so, Mehl? I liked the return. That pitcher is close.

Hah, yeah Cal, J-Rod and Naylor will provide MUCH better protection. Donnie will be a silver slugger in that lineup

Bloom did well with the trades with Boston and Arizona but was badly fleeced by Seattle.
Simply awful move.

Melville thinks the Cards got fleeced on the Donovan trade. We’ll see. Again, he won’t say for whom the Cards should have traded him. Weak.

But let’s remember his prediction for Donny after the 2021 season when he said relying on Donovan (and Noot) as the LH solution to the team's woeful performance against RH pitching … would be utter foolishness.”

Of course they will.
Just as STL fans did for good reason.
