Saggesse is most likely a bench player that can play multiple positions. Hopefully Baez stays on track and ends up in the outfield for the Cards. Peete is only 20 with a long ways to go to be a starter in the majors.
I think the future left fielder is not currently in the organization.

I'm interested to see how Ledbetter progresses. I like his defense and base stealing ability.kyace wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 14:13 pm Saggesse is most likely a bench player that can play multiple positions. Agree — don’t sleep on Mitchell. He hit a rocket yesterday and, while he looks raw, is twitchy on the athleticism scale.

Have to agree. Other than Baez, don't really see much to develope. Maybe Peete.rockondlouie wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 09:12 am
The only one I can see being in the OF in two years is J. Baez.
VSII is going to have to show he can get on base at a much better than his career .283 OB% or his great defense and speed won't be enough to hold the job.
The others have a lot to prove before they're even considered MLB players let alone starters.
I think C. Bloom will either trade for or sign at least one solid major league OF'er after the new CBA is in place, likely draft a kid who will fill the other slot in two-three years.

So it seems everyone is considering Church out of the picture completely.....I think he has a pretty good upside.

I think they find out a lot more this year about who is and isn't in a long-term plan in the OF.
Walker, Scott, Church, Nootbaar (when healthy), Velazquez, etc. are all probably going to have opportunities to make their case - along with the assumption for now of Baez - for being in the Cardinals OF 3, 4, etc. years from now.
With Burleson, Wetherholt, Winn, and one of their many catchers, you'd think much of the infield might be relatively set, with maybe the exception of Gorman still needing to prove himself at 3B.
