For everyone on here who hates the showboating, hot dogging, whatever you want to call it........You might not like Josh Baez.
If you saw his most recent home run, he hit it, and walked halfway down the first base line holding his bat before he started his jog around the bases. I loved it, we need some more flair around here

Yea I see it both ways, and don’t like it both ways. And I do like it both ways- flair verse stoic.Adam2 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 05:48 am For everyone on here who hates the showboating, hot dogging, whatever you want to call it........You might not like Josh Baez.

In basketball it’s all about see me. In football too, I don’t like it. Baseball is more passive, but growing in attitude..
The other sports seem to embrace that emotion. Maybe baseball will too.

Old school is ok with him being a hot dog as long as he is ok taking one in the ear next time he comes up.

Pitchers celebrate demonstratively. They don’t get one to the forehead. Often.
What it really comes down to my friends is everything’s just fine, fine fine. I got one arm giving a clenched fist; and the other giving a flip off.
I like it more when we do it and less when others do it. That’s old school.
After school i can see you playing in the park. Don’t let it get too late; don’t let it get too dark.

That’s because no one bunts any more. Players would push a bunt down the first base line and truck the pitcher when they came to field itsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 06:14 amPitchers celebrate demonstratively. They don’t get one to the forehead. Often.

I can see it. Not to mention force the pitcher to make an awkward play, then throw. If they didn’t run them over, it clearly displayed their athleticism.Red7 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 06:16 amThat’s because no one bunts any more. this is correct. Did you see Luis Severino strike out Kyle Schwarber? He basically screamed at Schwarber and the US dugout for 5 seconds while flexingsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 06:14 amPitchers celebrate demonstratively. They don’t get one to the forehead. Often.

There was more than that great example. Happens often in high pressure situations. Nothing gets said about that type celebration. Good point.Adam2 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 06:20 amthis is correct. Contained celebration is great but there is a line that gets crossed and sometimes hard to see. Celebrating a big homer or third out in a manner that does not focus on the player is great. Acting like you are the greatest thing since sliced bread or mouthing off or obscene gesture are not acceptable and should not be a part of any game. Overall it’s gone too far.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 06:35 amThere was more than that great example. Happens often in high pressure situations. I agree. Even when they get just a single, the animation that follows is old news. They look into their dugout and act out some gestures. Even in dugout celebrations are silly.Jatalk wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026 08:34 amContained celebration is great but there is a line that gets crossed and sometimes hard to see. Emotion is fine.
But most of the time its about "look at me". Build "my brand"
[nonsense].
Be original and stop following the crowd.
These are highly competitive athletes and if Im the opponent and you're deliberately trying to show me up than you're just asking for trouble.

Got used to the celebrations/antics/etc a long time ago.
And since they all do it(pitchers, hitters, fielders) it evens out.
Nothing wrong with honest emotion when making a critical play BUT “celebrating” a double in the third inning has gotten laughable!

It’s a game some players have fun playing the game I have no problem with it.
