Re: Breakout Game
His 4 walks in an inning of work was poor (you can use your own word choice ) . I do see in the box score that Doyle did have 3 strikeouts today so that was good , in just an inning of work . His 36.00 ERA must come down a bit though
I could not watch the game yet but will be recording it at 12 midnight . From the description , it sounded like he was quite erratic .
Did anyone see it on TV ? Just curious did he start out any batters with a ' first pitch strike' today. That is a key pitch for success in the MLB. The average first pitch strikes in MLB is between 57%- 60% . Did Doyle get ahead of any batters in the count with first pitch today ?
I saw in the box score that Doyle threw a total of 52 pitches with 27 for strikes ..one over 50% In MLB, a 60%- 64% total strike percentage is considered a sweet spot range for top pitchers. So a 60% rate on 52 pitches would be 31 strikes . Doyle was 4 short of that .

Re: Breakout Game
Yes, Doyle had some first-pitch strikes, but I wasn’t paying close attention to how many.
And Franklin was unlucky in the top of the 6th. Had a close pitch for the first walk that we couldn’t challenge because of two early-game unsuccessful challenges (dumb to try that that early), then a real roller of a base hit to RF because JJ was pulled up the middle. Ball didn’t even get to Baez. Really nothing negative about Franklin’s outing.
A guy that has looked good, today and in the big league games, is Jesus Baez — both at the plate and at SS. He just got a 2-out RBI single here in a 5-run sixth, making it 8-5, and has looked sure-handed and arm-accurate on several plays earlier today and the past 2 weeks.

Re: Breakout Game
38 pitches now for Fajardo and he just gave up 3 runs
I question putting him out there for a third inning. (and it isn't Oli)

Fajardo does Hrabosky? (No, he didn’t, but still had a pitch clock violation.)
