I hope over the first several months, the rotation settles in with May, Dobbins, Fitts, McGreevy, and Liberatore.
With Matthews knocking at the door.

It was a given the last two spots in the rotation would be fluid.

Let's hope that's all there is just two.

If Fitts can’t break this weak rotation out of ST what inspires you to think he’ll enter during the season ?

Because teams use more than 5 starters.

1st on the bus back. Pitching Staff will be bullpen driven which will call for additional arms there rather than in the rotation. They will play the one inning-two innings game. Svanson today.

When it comes to the 26 man roster, I guess Richard doesn’t Fitts.

They want to keep him starting and stretched out. It is not that hard to figure out.

Its not hard to figure out the fella who was returned in the trade from Boston…..and ever since has been slotted in rotation…..can’t beat out Pallante
6-15, 5.60ERA for the last spot in rotation?

Pallante has had a nice spring training. He was a very serviceable MLB back-of-the-rotation starter in the 1st half of 2025 and imploded in the 2nd half.

5-5 4.49 18 18 100.1 98 1.296
1-10 6.64 13 13 62.1 75 1.684

You act as though Fitts is considered by scouts to be a far superior player than Pallante. Pallante was drafted higher; they have pretty similar MiLB track records. Neither is considered a front-of-the-rotation guy. Pallante won the spring battle. If Pallante falters and Fitts is pitching well at Memphis, then they may reverse roles or Pallante may be shifted to the pen.

Maybe they want Fitts to work on a specific pitch, and Memphis is the best place.

No, I’ve just been reading here since Fitts was acquired that he was a sure thing in rotation. Got some prospects and back end MLB starter…..
I’ve never thought much of Pallante

Maybe your thoughts are only one deep. The manager can't afford that luxury.

The way Pallante looked in ST I hope he can keep it up thru May or June then we should flip him to the needy Dodgers before he implodes for say Pages or Sirota as our future CF.

Long season and lots of games to square away the rotation for 2027 and beyond.

Fitts is just another guy on that list of unanswered questions.

At some point this season he'll get his shot in the rotation unless something untoward happens to him in Memphis.

Same can likely be said for Dobbins and hopefully Mathews.

And JW will be running around RF opening day…..make it make sense
I have turned into a JW fan seeing how much it is bothering him to fail. He can not be on the big club to start the season. That is absolutely the perfect way to destroy this young man. Fitts seemed to me to be a better candidate than Pallante. My opinion of Pallante is skewed by his performance from last year so maybe it isn't fair to him.

Precisely!
The rotation figures to be fluid and could look very different at season’s end?
Your mention of Fitts/Dobbins/Mathews is spot on!
Doyle and others will be in the mix(hopefully) as season winds down.
My guess? Pallante is temporary and winds up in BP.
