Hello NIT!

Post by todd-parker »

SLU - 57, George Mason - 86 (not a typo)

Billikens pick the last game of the regular season to have their worst game and will now need to win the A-10 tournament to get into the NCAAs.

SLU will fall out of the rankings and any chance at an at-large bid is gone after this 30 point beatdown. SLU lost their last 3 road games.

39% shooting, 16% from 3, 58% free throws, and were out-rebounded by 15.

Team needs to find a way to turn this around or it's back to the NIT - which would be massive shame following their incredible start.

If so, which I doubt, they can join Belmont and Mizzou.

I agree, that SLU needs to win the A-10 Conference Tournament, which would automatically put them in the NCAA Tournament. They have been overrated all season long.

I would think it depends upon how they do in the A tourney and just who does win the tourney as to their chances to make the dance without a tourney championship win.

That's my opinion.......we'll see and I hope it's a moot point.

I think they need to win the whole tournament after yesterday.

Another angle here....if the Bills lose another along the way and end up 28-5 or close to that AND they are denied the dance.....it may impact Schertz's decision to stay or leave.

That would be 2 deserving mid major performances where he was denied the dance.

If they make it to the championship game, yes they should and I believe they would get that bid.

They better change their game up to do this.

Not necessarily. They need to beat Dayton or Mason in the semis, not LaSalle or Bonnie's, and play VCU in the championship game, not St Joe's Davidson Richmond.

The Billikens AP ranking has mirrored their net rankings since the first of the year.

That has kind of been my fear all year long.

The next couple of weeks will be telling.

We'll know by late Sunday afternoon whether SLU has earned an automatic bid (doubtful) or gets an at-large bid based on early season performance and NET and WAB rankings (Billikens currently with a 27 NET and a 40 WAB). Will those numbers be good enough? Have to at least make A-10 tourney final.

Personally I think they have to win it all.
