DTF St. Louis
Huh... a thriller HBO limited series led by Jason Bateman set in St. Louis.

The 2009 George Clooney film Up in the Air was filmed in St. Louis and set in a bunch of other cities, none of which were St. Louis.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles was filmed at Lambert StL. A friend was an extra in the scene at the car rental counter with Steve Martin and Edie McClurg ("well, you're fu&#ed!") but he was edited out of the final.

Missouri doesn't offer the same tax credits Georgia does. That's why Ozark was shot in Georgia.

One of my buddies growing up his Dad was an extra in White Palace, standing in line at a restaurant if I remember right.

Loved the mountains in the outdoor scenes of Kansas City in the movie Roadhouse.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 14:35 pm Missouri doesn't offer the same tax credits Georgia does. That's why Ozark was shot in Georgia.

Jennifer Lawrence's breakout film, Winter's Bone, was filmed in southwest Missouri. Having spent a lot of time fishing, floating and camping in The Ozarks, the scenery was unmistakably Missouri. The gravel roads, the oak/hickory/ cedar forests are unique to Missouri and Arkansas. A great movie, too. One of my favorites.

Fantastic first episode. Great cast - always great to see Richard Jenkins.
People hoping to see nods to St. Louis will be disappointed. Story takes place in a fictional suburb of the city and the tv channel that Jason Bateman's character works at doesn't exist. Station has call letters beginning with a 'W' which wouldn't be the case for stations west of the Mississippi River. Probably the only true St. Louis connection was the nod to Kevin Kline.

It happens, the Chain of the Rocks bridge was used for the bridge scene in Escape from New York. I remember being a little kid and driving across the 270 bridge. You could see the bridge dressed up for the movie.Bighorn66 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 18:23 pmLoved the mountains in the outdoor scenes of Kansas City in the movie Roadhouse.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 14:35 pm Missouri doesn't offer the same tax credits Georgia does. Re: DTF St. Louis
I started this last night and couldn't get thru the first episode. Part of it was we had just watched an insane heavy Mad Men episode prior to turning this on and it may have impacted our mental state while watching TV. However, the first 20 minutes bored us to tears.
I'll probably go back to it eventually but I'm curious as to others opinions. Saw the one glowing review up thread.
Spoiler
Was David Harbor wearing a fat suit or did he gain weight for this role? What's with the kid throwing rocks at houses and how has he not been beaten. The monologue was super monotone and uninteresting. In what world does a weather guy stand outside in a tornado with a sign language interpreter? We all have seen Storm mode on CH4 around here I presume. They don't leave the studio. This isn't Jim Cantore at Myrtle Beach as a Cat 4 hurricane is approaching. And yeah, a couple of uninteresting dudes in a sexless marriage that are going online to get some strange. Don't really care at all

I think that we are going to see a lot of twists and turns. If you watched the preview for the season, I think it is going to be not what we think, even after only 1 episode. Is it weird I got a bit of a True Detective vibe? I can't really explain it, just because of muted dialogue, slow paced scenes and general randomness?
I am going to stick with it and see what happens, mainly because I love the cast and think that the best is yet to come.

I’m watching it, it’s only two episodes so far but a couple nitpicky things bug me.
Even if it’s a fictitious station he’s on, StL is west of the Mississippi so it should at least start with a K instead of a W. Second he keeps calling it a cyclone, when we call them tornadoes.

Linda Cardellini, ladies and gentlemen. Soon to appear as Pamela Voorhees in 'Crystal Lake', the Friday the 13th prequel series. Doubt there will be any face-sitting in that one.

That would have been an easy one to research. Or the fact he’s on channel 10, they could easily say 2, 4 or 5 without worrying about specific mentions of real affiliates. Why list a lot of real municipalities but then have the main one Twila be fake?netboy65 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2026 10:42 am I’m watching it, it’s only two episodes so far but a couple nitpicky things bug me.

But I get it, they don’t care as much as we St. Louisians do, nor would the vast majority of the audience.
That Cards game was also funny. Looked like it was shot at a small college park, perhaps. The camera angle was super high not to show the field or upper deck.
