What if???
What if the Cardinals had a winning record and made the playoffs?
It could happen. Maybe not, but possible.
How would it feel to complain and cry all off season, Spring training and I’m sure most of the season for absolutely nothing?
As I get older, I say enjoy the game.

As for how would it feel to complain and cry all ofseason, spring, and most f the year boy , that's a tough one for me .
As always been a 'glass half full' personality , my life colleagues, friends would tell me that they liked I was quite positive, not a griper . I have had some very good budies over the years that were usually on the negative side .. the complainer types , often predicting the worse case scenarios outcomes.
Guess that is what makes the world go around. It takes all kinds. The 'glass half full ' types along with the 'glass half empty ' ones too

This team has enough talent to produce a winning record.
And that should be the expectation.
If that does not happen, there will be only 2 possible causes.
Multiple significant injuries.
Or, continuing incompetence on The Marmot's part.

Re: What if???
This is the first time in a long time that I’m excited about the season. But, I don’t need a winning record to gauge success and improvement.ramfandan wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 20:56 pmAs the saying goes 'Anything is possible , but often not 'probable' !Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 20:48 pm What if the Cardinals had a winning record and made the playoffs?

What if they won, and rather than enjoy it, you cried about people who cared about the team but held a more pragmatic outlook instead of your sychophant-like-dedication? Who's really crying?Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 20:48 pm What if the Cardinals had a winning record and made the playoffs?

The cryer? Or the cryer who cries about others' crying?

Re: What if???
Im as optimistic as the next guy. But, I'm not setting the bar real high, but I'm excited as hell to watch the young blood try and infuse a little excitement into, what has been, a pretty boring team for a few years.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 20:48 pm What if the Cardinals had a winning record and made the playoffs?

As for the complainers? Complain on. You have that right, and more than likely, have earned that right. Ive been there, and done that. I'm now in my mid-late 60s. Believe me, I've done my share of complaining about this team. At this age now, I'm past it, and like I said, looking forward to the fresh remodeling of this team. Gonna be fun!

Re: What if???
We're excited about 18 hits and 10 runs today. I don't think that will be the norm for this team.
Nevertheless, I have written here before that I would rather cheer for a team of young prospects than a team of declining veterans.
Hopefully we will learn a lot about a lot of players in 2026, then the team will build upon it for future success in 2027, 2028, and beyond.

Re: What if???
lol. You already set the ground work. Enough talent to win unless Marmol messes it up. Not very scientific approach.Melville wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 21:24 pmI have been very consistent.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 20:48 pm What if the Cardinals had a winning record and made the playoffs?

I was the first and only one to say that the manager decides about 3 games a year.
That’s based on 100% fact 95% of the time.
This is based on observation, experience and knowledge.
It’s not about me. I’m unbiased. I don’t have a preconceived opinion on the managers skills.

Re: What if???
I don’t know about that, but I would say Liberatore, McGreevy, May, Fitts, Leahy/Dobbins is better than what we had last year.
Gray is about the only one you could make the case for, but he was pretty bad pitching anywhere but Busch.
Probably won’t get as lucky with health, but at the beginning of the season it looks better to me.
