Dominguez is the one most likely to traded as he is likely to start the season in AAA.
Yankees still looking for another reliever most likely left handed. They also could use a Rh back up catcher. They signed Grichuk as a potential right handed bat for the outfield.
I wouldn’t mind the Cards taking a flyer on Dominguez. He’s still very young and the potential is there. If not him the Cards need to ask about Chase Hampton. He was their top pitching prospect before TJ surgery last Spring. Meanwhile he has been passed by several other young arms for the Yankees and most likely be placed back in the minors.
I would see if Jo Jo and Pages or Pozo could pry him away. If healthy he would rank right behind Doyle on the Cards pitching prospects.
It seems Jones or Dominguez might be available

Re: It seems Jones or Dominguez might be available
This is a good answer. We need more elite power ceilinged prospects in our system. If not Jones - then someone else, but who is attainable?ICCFIM2 wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 14:55 pmThe Cards need OF prospects. Obviously these are projects like Gorman and Walker that may wash out. Dominguez BTV 22 Jones 18. I understand the Yankees want SP protection and catching protection. Pallante 7 and Pages 8 provide that or Crooks 8.6. Romero 6.3 provides some leveredged relief. I would be willing to offer them 2 of those 4 for either of Dominguez or Jones. Their pick. The Cards might miss Pages some this year, but he is not the long term answer. If both Dominguez and Jones wash out, it is still a chance worth taking.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 14:20 pmHe strikes out at a higher rate in the minors than Gorman does in the majors. He'll never be left in the lineup long enough to stack up 40 HR's in a season in the majors, but wow, that kind of power with the short porch in NY. Yikes!
Re: It seems Jones or Dominguez might be available
Dominguez is a poor fielder. And has disappointed to date.
Jones K's at a rate higher than even GrichuKKK who the Yanks just signed.
Not saying that either do not warrant any consideration but Do Not Overpay.
The Yanks, similar to The Cards, often OverValue their prospects.

Agree, but Yanks would want more. That might get Hampton though. Depends on how much they value Pages.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 15:55 pmYou do that deal yesterday!Shady wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 11:44 amRomero and Pages for Dominguez seems to make some sense. The 23 year old, switch-hitting outfielder, Dominguez, has some potential.kyace wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 11:41 am Yankee media are raving about Jones power this Spring. Personally I would love for the Cards to get both Dominguez and Hampton. Hampton went into the 2024 season as their top pitching prospect but due to elbow and a groin injury barely pitched in 2024 and had TJ surgery last February but is still just 24 years old. He now has at least 9 young right handed arms ahead of him with the Yankees. He is the definition of surplus.

I can live with Dominguez in LF and take the chance on him, 22/23 year old switch hitter with great potential. I would give them JoJo and one of Pages or Crooks, maybe try to sweeten with Pallante if need be.

One of them might be (key word being might), but I don't think the team would, or should, be willing to add another outfielder needing ST at bats when they have a large number already.Shady wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 09:49 amYou don't feel Dominguez and/or Jones might be an upgrade over Walker, Scott and Church?HighHeat23 wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 09:38 amDo we really want another outfielder needing spring training time to prove himself. I’d be surprised if Bloom is interested. He has a lot of outfielders he needs to find out about (Scott, Walker, Church, Nootbaar) to name a few.Shady wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 09:18 am What would it take for Bloom to swing a deal for one of these two outfielders? How would a platoon of Church and Saggese in LF compare to the switch-hitting Dominguez.rightthinker4 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 15:01 pmI’d be surprised if Bloom is interested. There are probably a ton of better options than a Church and Saggese platoon.Shady wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 15:42 pmHow would a platoon of Church and Saggese in LF compare to the switch-hitting Dominguez.rightthinker4 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 15:01 pmI’d be surprised if Bloom is interested. But all the options will require A TRADE.
So no, trading for Jason D isn't a good move right now.

Other than Winn and JJ up the middle, this isn't a roster where you stake your preference at every position.Shady wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 17:35 pmWhat is your preference in LF of the current roster?ecleme22 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 16:24 pmThere are probably a ton of better options than a Church and Saggese platoon.Shady wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 15:42 pmHow would a platoon of Church and Saggese in LF compare to the switch-hitting Dominguez.rightthinker4 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 15:01 pmI’d be surprised if Bloom is interested.
