October 11, 1968: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Bobby Tolan to the Cincinnati Reds for Vada Pinson.
At the time I thought Vada Pinson would be key player bringing another pennant winner to the Cardinals. As it turned out it was not a good trade as Pinson had back problems and Tolan and Granger helped the Reds.

Yes, a very poor trade by the Cardinals

Re: RIP Wayne Granger
This trade here gets no debate from CT. All three players were studs. Tolan was just short of great. Pinson was great for years. As it played out, severely one sided results.sp25 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 09:43 amRIP Wayne GrangerOldRed wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 09:39 am October 11, 1968: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Bobby Tolan to the Cincinnati Reds for Vada Pinson.
