Bunting into foul territory is a thing of beauty (but only when JJ Weatherholt does it)
The thing you learned today is he has an ops over 1.000 and his batting average jumped .200 points
His price in free agency just went up…

Some forum members seem to be confused when it comes to differentiating between the meaning of depth and simply a case of numbers when it comes to this season's starting rotation.

The only certainties as of the end of February is Liberatore and McGreevy.

The rest are inexperienced with little to no ML innings as a starter, injury issues, or in Pallantes case ineffectiveness.

Even if you pencil in May as a given, Fitts, Dobbins, Leahy, Mathews, Hence, Mautz or Pallante can't be seen as "depth" as in a commodity with some experience and a measure of success.

That may very well come later for a few and that would then easily be something to hang your hat on but for now that simply isnt the case.

Good…..good for you….let it all out..

Carrying around all that anger has to be painful……..if I may speak for others….we are all here for you….so please, when you are so consumed with something so insignificant as a baseball team that it makes life difficult……just know you are not alone..

As to the Astros cheating……I am not troubled by that….but trash cans? Tacky..

If only they had hacked into another team’s computer system….now, that is sophisticated cheating…

Things I've learned. If you choose your pitch, and put the bat on the ball, good things will happen.

Yes, but Pallante aside could this grab bag of pitchers be better than what Mikolas and Fedde gave. That's the floor for 2026. At least they are young. Hope springs.

May ... well he's not Gray. But maybe will sweat less.

Well I guess no team but the dodgers has depth according to you then by your definition. You want what two rotations of successful experienced starters to be considered depth? lol how many teams have 7 or 8 experienced successful starters?

My definition has to do with facts.

The Cardinals as the season begins has not one proven sustainable starting rotation pitcher with success. May is capable but made only 20-starts in three years prior to last season and he's being treated with kid gloves as we start spring training.

Use some common sense for goodness sakes. I'm not talking about 10-successful experienced pitchers as you said.

I'll settle for two or maybe three with a couple of question marks.

And that may come by the end of the season. As I said as of now that is far from the case.

You can't believe there's more certainty with this group of 8 or 9 guys than there is question marks?

Yeah anything is possible but lets not forget as bad as some believe it was the team was 9-games over .500 at one point with that group. It isn't all on them the offense was bad.

That won't happen this season and yes I know the record isn't supposed to matter.

There seems to be nearly as many health concerns with some of these candidates as there are numbers.

The starting pitching was trash mikolas and Fedde were garbage every month but may the team was bad to garbage every month but may. If they could have replaced them with pitchers that were even .500 they would have made the playoffs but they had no depth. The only thing that saved the cardinals last season was the bullpen. This year they won’t have to stick with garbage pitchers all season like last season because they have depth to replace them
