Torres now with a .500 OBP in his first 8 PA of spring training. He had a .441 OBP at AAA last year. He is the classic late bloomer who has honed a skillset as an on base machine. He will take the Donovan role of full-time leadoff hitter while playing a number of positions.

My money is on the younger more slugging Fermin

I like Fermin, too. Between injuries and ineffectiveness of other players, I think we'll see a lot of both of them in STL this season.

It's not important to me that Torres break camp with the Cardinals (it's ok if he does), but I would like to see him get a consecutive 2-3 month run in the majors (maybe after the trade deadline) to see how he does at the ML level. I would like to see him face some major league pitchers late in spring training to see how he shows.

I would too. He just knows how to get on base and doesn’t have any false notions about what kind of a hitter he is. I think he could be a very valuable player for some team. I just don’t think it will be with the Cardinals, or any team that values power over OB%.
I know he has played multiple positions, but I’m not sure how good he is at any of them. We know he has speed, so he should be able to cover a lot of ground.
