Next---?

Post by earp »

1. Nolan Gorman
Power bat

Young

Cheap

Defensive limitations

Blocked long‑term by other infielders

This is EXACTLY the type of player Bloom has traded before.

2. Lars Nootbaar
High OBP

Good defense

Team control

Strong trade value

Outfield logjam

If the Cardinals want pitching prospects, Nootbaar is a prime chip.

Alec Burleson
Breakout bat

Limited defensive value

High trade value right now

Then Maybe:
Connor Norby (2B/OF, MLB‑ready)

Coby Mayo (3B/1B, huge power)

Heston Kjerstad (OF, elite bat speed)

Everson Pereira (OF, tools)

Jaison Chourio (CLE OF, elite athlete)

Brock Wilken (MIL 3B, huge power)

Gabriel Gonzalez (SEA OF, bat‑first upside)

Justin Wrobleski (LAD LHP, rising fast)

Cole Phillips (ATL RHP, huge arm)

Jacob Misiorowski (MIL RHP, 100 mph, wild but electric)

Within 3–5 years, the Cardinals should be exporting pitching to other teams, not begging for it.

Ok. I’m buzzed. Your thread ain’t helping. Are we talking about trading the Cardinals listed, for the players in the second list. Then in 3 years we compete.

Other than that, I too am muffed.

There WILL be a next round of departures and they will probably be more controversial than the first round. The first round was pretty clear who would go- higher salaries, few years of contract left. The next round will be younger players with more control. Burleson could very well be one, perhaps even Liberatore. Melville and I have gone round and round this winter about whether Crooks or Bernal should be the catcher traded. Some of the young pitching will be dealt. There are others. The "need" to trade them is less clear, and there will be much debate surrounding them.

Re: Next---?--(move made by Cardinals GM)

This is EXACTLY the type of player Bloom has traded before.--(trade a STL Cardinal baseball player)

Then Maybe:--(Trade for a player from another team)

Guess I was not very clear on this - sorry
