Who is this Velaquez? Will he make our roster?
Not much for average, but he seems to have a better home run to at bat ratio than Gorman

Correct.
Re: Who is this Velaquez? Will he make our roster?
I suspect you are correct.
Possible he makes it, but highly unlikely.
Regardless, the closer he looks to being ready - even if that means an August or September audition - the less fit for Velaquez in the team's plan.

With the addition of Urias, does that signal Saggese may get a good look in LF? How's an outfield of Saggese LF, Church CF and Walker RF appeal to you?Melville wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:25 pmI suspect you are correct.

No matter what happens, I liked the signing.
Mo rarely did this kinda thing post TLR.

The Cardinals have stated Saggese will get a look in LF.Shady wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:37 pmWith the addition of Urias, does that signal Saggese may get a good look in LF? As for an outfield of Saggese, Church, and Walker - it holds neither appear nor alarm on my part.
I care about production, not projection.
The very best outfield option is fairly obvious: fire The Marmot and allow a competent manager to address it.

Re: Who is this Velaquez? Will he make our roster?
I think Velaquez will be the starting LF.
Re: Who is this Velaquez? Will he make our roster?
Right now, the Cardinals' outfield doesn't resemble the "Bronx Bombers". Both Saggese and Church could hit their way into the starting Cardinals' outfield. So could Velazquez. What say you?Melville wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:45 pmThe Cardinals have stated Saggese will get a look in LF.Shady wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:37 pmWith the addition of Urias, does that signal Saggese may get a good look in LF? I think he should be the front-runner... especially while Nootbar is out.
When Nootbar returns, then bench whichever one of Velazquez and Walker is not performing. Bet on Walker.
I will be surprised if Nootbar plays until at least May.

Walker isn’t getting benched this year as long as he has a pulse.cardstatman wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 15:48 pmI think he should be the front-runner... especially while Nootbar is out.

I liked the signing of Nelson V. , like Ramos, he is a zero risk kind of signing . For him to play well enough to make the ODR would be a huge bonus.

I would hate that Outfield.Shady wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:37 pmWith the addition of Urias, does that signal Saggese may get a good look in LF? How's an outfield of Saggese LF, Church CF and Walker RF appeal to you?Melville wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 14:25 pmI suspect you are correct.
