Schertz's future at SLU
With the success that Josh Schertz is having in only his 2nd year at mid-major SLU, not to mention the success he had at his prior stops, it's inevitable that he is going to be mentioned as a replacement for fired coaches in the power 5.
Case in point with the now open spot at Kansas State:

Schertz is in year 2 of his 6-year contract with SLU. How far should SLU be willing to go to keep him? Do you shell out the big bucks (he had a higher offer to stay at Indiana St.) or do just accept the fact that mid-major coaches will always be looking to move up and try to find the next big thing?

you gotta try and keep him -- i think a move to kst is a sideways move for him and he will have much better options, don't be surprised if the NBA doesn't come calling. His offensive creativity is drawing a lot of attention from NBA execs.todd-parker wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 11:38 am With the success that Josh Schertz is having in only his 2nd year at mid-major SLU, not to mention the success he had at his prior stops, it's inevitable that he is going to be mentioned as a replacement for fired coaches in the power 5.

Kansas State may be after him.

They have been successful in keeping Katie Shields the women’s soccer coach.
They have to keep Schertz.

Big East money would have really helped in retaining him.
Honestly, I think it will be hard to keep him. He may be the #1 candidate for most openings.

The Big East is a pipe dream.

It's very possible he will switch jobs with Porter Moser.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 13:16 pm Big East money would have really helped in retaining him.
