It's like Men against Boys in the first four minutes

Slovakia is much better in the Second. Dvi’s forecheck pressured a Finn into a delay of game penalty..
The Finn bench is glum, but do they ever look happy?

Really pulling hard for Dvo. It’d be cool for 3 Blues to come home with medals.
Re: OT: Olympics Bronze Game GDT
Dvo has really impressed me this tournament. He’s been all over the ice today. The Finns are going to regret not putting these guys away sooner.
Re: OT: Olympics Bronze Game GDT
Or maybe not
Re: OT: Olympics Bronze Game GDT
Yeah, he ended his tournament on a flat note, but so did the whole Slovakian team. The Finns shut down Slafkovsky, too.
DD does some things very well, at an NHL level, but he's trying to be a top-6 center. Too often he does not look the part. Really expect more motor and aggressiveness from a top-6 center, especially a young center.
Anxious to watch how he performs over the remainder of the season.

He came along way from being scratched at the World Championships. He also had no NHL players on his line which I'm sure made a difference in his 5 on 5 play. The limiting factor for me in DD's ceiling will be how much he can improve his speed, quickness and agility over the next 3-4 years. The skill and IQ are there for him to be a top line player.

The way I've described Dvorsky is he's so subtly sculpting the last 10% of his game that it's difficult to see what's fully under there until the sculptor is done. What I keep insisting is that he is ultra confident that he is in control of his own sculpting, and also that there is evidence it's ongoing. He is one of those guys who you'll turn around and he's 23 and he's a clear 1C. He certainly doesn't know yet that he can't be, and what would make him think that after his performance in this high stakes event?

Well said. You also have pointed out how self-driven he is. A welcome change from players who coast and collect their paychecks.seattleblue wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 17:53 pm The way I've described Dvorsky is he's so subtly sculpting the last 10% of his game that it's difficult to see what's fully under there until the sculptor is done. I like Dvorsky but reality came back to earth with his performance in the medal round games. Overmatched physically and size issues. Like the development but breaking out he is not.

Agree, but sculpting must include improved skating. To me, that is the only difference between a middle 6 center and a top 6 center for him as a ceiling.seattleblue wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 17:53 pm The way I've described Dvorsky is he's so subtly sculpting the last 10% of his game that it's difficult to see what's fully under there until the sculptor is done. Plus the Olympic ice is bigger so he’s got more room. Going to have to adjust when he gets back here.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 18:14 pm I like Dvorsky but reality came back to earth with his performance in the medal round games. Re: OT: Olympics Bronze Game GDT
Seattle, I respect how you watch the game, and the scouting reports you bring to the forum, but I'd be stunned if Dvo is a clear 1C. I hope I'm wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time, but unless he improves his skating and pace of play, I just don't see it. Not that its necessary, but do you have a comp in mind?seattleblue wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 17:53 pm The way I've described Dvorsky is he's so subtly sculpting the last 10% of his game that it's difficult to see what's fully under there until the sculptor is done.
