Re: Canada and Finland
Decent game. I'm all on the Slovakia train. Would LOVE to see Dvorsky lead a major upset, these games have been a bit boring overall, want a shocker. If USA wins I'm pretty neutral on who to root for vs Canada. Coin toss.

callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 13:48 pm Canada has really evolved into the "soft" version of hockey with high skill whereas the USA has gone for the grit over the last 20 years. I think that changing of the guard started around the miracle on ice days. The USA players have interviews saying that Canada called the USA brand of hockey soft and too much speed. So they rebranded themselves to be the physical guys to get people off their game. It's very noticeable today and theres a reason why Canada has to have the marchand, wilson, bennett group out there. If those guys aren't around, they would have gotten bullied by basically everyone in the tourney.
I'm not saying I watched every game this Olympics but I've watched a bit. Those whistles appeared extra quick for Canada when they needed it the last 2 games. That was a high stick but that guy was johnny on the spot for that thing. And that stick to the hands at the end of last game could have been a penalty and in NHL has been an auto penalty.
I really hope the USA finds a way and doesn't make this one a barn burner. They will be feeling more pressure at the end of this one than any team in the tourney if they don't get themselves a big lead. I'd venture to guess the majority of the world is looking for them to choke this.

Yep. He got barely nicked and flew around like he got shot. Marchand did the same. Embarrassing.

You’re right. Wilson went down awful easy on the tripping call earlier in the game too.crookedfeeder wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 14:39 pmYeah, because nobody else would have done the same.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 14:38 pmYep. And I’ll be rooting for Dvorsky to dominate somehow and for the Slovaks to pull an upset. Not because I’m un-American, but because I like underdogs. And I could care less about the Olympics in any sport ever since they started playing pros over the kids. 1980 was something special for sure.
So enjoy your pure comedy gold.

Lindell is a notorious flop-queenIsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 13:31 pmA football/soccer move frankly. A penalty I guess but with that reaction an embellishment would not have been out of line. A cheap way to win a game. Guarantee if Rantanen or Esa Lindell did the same thing to draw a penalty people would be howling. But I am a homer so I will take it.DutchBlue wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 13:22 pmThat was indeed quite an acting job, but stick did touch the face… Canada really has a couple of guys that are “unlikeable”… stone i always consider a cheat, Wilson…ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 12:49 pmSame with the Canadian girl flying 100 mph into the boards after a soft push from the USA player late in the 3rd yesterday. They must teach that up north.

gotta wonder what's going on in helle's head if he gets the matchup vs binner again. surely he can't get outplayed 3 times in a row. IMO- let's cool it with the embellishment [nonsense]; and Canada is soft. Canada was the better team and Finland play a great defensive team game. IF anything Canada is not as great on the defensive end as they use to be. What I saw was Canada has one line that's the best in the world and then, the rest of the lines, as just as good as everyone else. and like the Edmonton Oilers when you have that one line you have that extra jump. IF it does end up, and it looks like a likely, Canada vs. USA; the guy that wasn't at the four nations and scares me the most is Quinn Hughes....and IF it all comes down to the D I'd take the USA. but IF it all comes down to goalies I'd take Binnington every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Sunday finale; I look for a very high scoring game like the All Star games can be. High skill back and forth and neither goalie shutting the door

What do you say we call a truce? I shouldn’t have been so mean spirited earlier. We’ve both been around awhile, and I’ve certainly valued your material over the years. My apologies for being a Richard.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 12:36 pmUSA and then Canada. Get it rightShakeyWalton wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 12:35 pmEnjoy rooting for Canada you Jackazzz.
